So who has gotten a chance to hear these things? The EP 500 is making me salivate. And here is one for Alan... how much better is the punch on the 500 than the 350? I think if these things sound as good as they look on paper then these subs will become a new industry standard.

when i called axiom asking about the ep600 vs my ep350, i was told on a scale of 1-10, the ep600 is a 10, and an ep350, is about a 3... i know the ep600 isnt the 500, but im sure the 500 isnt far behind the 600..

I have a B-stock 500 on order. Give me about 11 weeks and counting and maybe I can give ya an idea...

They already have B-stocks? I guess you can't count on perfect veneer every time. That's totally the way to go on these suckers.

How exactly did you get a 500 from that factory outlet store? I looked all over and can't find the 500 for sale anywhere in there.

Hmm. thats not very promosing to someone who is considering getting the EP350. perhaps they just wanna sell more of the expensive subs. They seem kinda hyped to me in the decription.

Yep, it just took a phone call. I simply made a "pre-order" for a B-stock 500 the same as you would for an A-stock. However, since they aren't even shipping A-stock units yet and the demand is so high I imagine there's little point in listing them in the B-stock section. I was told they couldn't give an ETA at this point. But I'm sure the wait will be worth it.

I don't think they necessarily do have B-stock units available. I simply ordered on the premise that they will once manufacturing is full steam ahead.

I haven't seen much hyping or exaggeration from Axiom yet; they could be starting that with the new subs but I doubt it. The 500/600 descriptions are pretty colourful but it seems more like a case of "letting the engineer write the copy" rather than hype.

The EP350 (and similar subs like my PSB 6i) are probably a "3" on a linear scale and a "6-7" on the logarithmic scale our ears and brains seem to follow. In other words, yeah the new subs probably ARE three times as good in terms of measured flat response and extension (particularly flat response), but in terms of real listening enjoyment the difference will probably be much smaller.

I don't think there was any attempt to slag the EP350; from all accounts it's a very good sub.
