"The Intel Corp. has scrapped plans to offer a chip for flat-panel television sets. The chip was part of Intel’s big plan to move into the consumer electronics market. The production was scrapped because of the company’s changed focus.
A spokesperson for Intel, Bill Calder, said that the company had come to the conclusion that the resources that were going into the “liquid crystal on silicon” chip would be better spent elsewhere."
