OK I'll start a new post. Here's some pics and then I'm out of here to connect it all up

THE "FLAW"

First thing I noticed once I had it out of the box is this thing is a HUGE child magnet.... I'm definitely going to have to take some precautions.

OK I'm out to get connected, Jag

Simply seat the child on the 500, turn the volume all the way up, and play the gunfight from Open Range. Once you've cleaned up the mess, the child will never go near it again.

LOL, so far the sheetrock is hanging on but the fixtures...Ouch

Well guys it rumbles and tumbles the entire house. Man oh Maaaan, this is one mother sub. You can feel this thing in any room of the house.

Someone mentioned in Amies post today that it looks like the subs have the ASW cabinets. The EP500 doesn't.
If its not clear from the pics the sub is deeper than wide or high but no angled sides.
For the new timers the finish is spot on and looks darn authentic from virtually any distance. A very pretty sub in my opinion and its going to be a perfect match for the rest of the system when it comes.

I haven't much chance to fiddle with the settings or play with placement but I certainly have found everything sounds fuller and better with the sub running with my old mission bookshelf speakers.

One advantage I've found of the front firing sub is you get to watch the it flex its muscle. So COOLLLLLLLLLL.

Cheers, Jag

Congrats! Sounds like it's fantastic. Enjoy!

It looks great, although I prefer my subs in black. Can you give us a close up of the panel on the back?

Thanks Kcarlie it is pretty cool. I didn't realize how fun this HT thing can really be.
Here's the best pic of the back panel I could do. The camera is on loan and isn't the best quality.

The sub came with a "quick set up sheet" and referenced this web page for the full manual
but it doesn't seem to be up and running yet.

In the quick sheet it does reference a couple of interesting things:

"The REMOTE setting is for operation with future Axiom remote controlled products that enables remote-control adjustment of subwoofer levels."

"USB: This is to be used for future software upgrades to the Digital Signal Processor inside your EP500 and EP600. You may also use the USB input to connect the accessory Axiom light to ease visibilty in making subwoofer adjustments or connections"

I thought this was quite funny. A sub woofer USB light.
At the very least is shows Axiom is thinking out side of the box or should I say sub.

Cheers, Jag

Nice! I may have to look into Axiom's subs to use as a second addition to my theater. Thanks for the pics.

JAG- thanks for the update man.. i believe you are the first on the board to get one of the new subs, so we are all very curious. i cant wait til you get the rest of the system in, and can give a full review of the complete axiom system.

thanks for the pics. it helps to see it in a 'realtime' scenario. and i sure reckon that "flaw" is acceptable. for a 10% discount, that you cant even see when the grill is on, i wouldnt mind a bit!!
