hey Craig,
honestly if you're knees are bugging you, you should probably visit a physiotherapist or sports medicine (therapist) clinic. When I was younger (wisecracks welcome after this comment) my knees used to bother me some fierce - to the point where after playing a game of hockey, I was unable to stand up without "pulling" myself up. Turns out the cartilage was unusually rough and was causing pain through the normal range of motion. They provided me with about 10 stretches and a half-dozen strength exercises. Within a few months it was remarkably better. It was well worth the time/effort, especially in the long run.

My knees are fine. It's my feet that hurt in the morning. Once I get up and loosen up, they're ok, but first thing in the morning...youchy.

Ever try soaking them in ice water for about 20 minutes after you play?

Nope...but that sounds like the exact opposite of what I need. They hurt because they're tight in the morning. Wouldn't the ice water just tighten them quicker?

Inflammation is one of the causes of muscle soreness. Cold therapy reduces the inflammation.

There are a lot of articles on the net about the treatment of muscle soreness. I know with me and my knee....in college, I iced before and after practices/matches....and it made a difference.

This sounds more like my problem...

Plantar fasciitis. Stress on the bottom of the foot sometimes causes arch pain. The plantar fascia, a supportive, fibrous band of tissue running the length of the foot, becomes inflamed and painful. If arch pain persists, consider investing in better shoes, an over-the-counter support, or see a doctor of podiatric medicine for a custom-made orthotic device to insert into the shoe.

Although the worst pain is generally at the back of my heel, rather than my arch. Hmmm...still googling.

hehehe....and icing is also mention to help ease discomfort.

My Father had this problem too. He started using a heal pad/cup in his shoe, that seemed to help a lot.

I'll be looking into some of those. It's not too bad right now, but at it's worst I have to hold on to the walls to walk first thing in the morning. I've even slid down the stairs once on my butt... Thank goodness it doesn't hurt like that anymore!

Mine is in constant pain. At times I walk like an old man. Thats what I have. Only lately has it been alleviated by buying Nike instead of Merril Hiking Shoes.

Those Shox stuff really works for me.
