I haven't taken the plunge yet, but I'm leaning in that direction. The product line goes along way to satisfy the WAF!!! My current setuo is:
B&W 601(F) LCR60(C) LM1(R) Paradigm PD10 Sub.
AMP Yammie 2400
Room size 15x25.
I'm either going to replace all or just get some 603's for the front.
Replacement would be 60Ti, VP150, QS8 probably keep the sub
any advice!
Do you guys think the extra $$ are worth it for the HG Finishes?
BTW if anyone wants to hear some 80Ti's QS8's go to Laserland in Oakville, Ont.

Welcome,
I took the plunge about a month ago or so...it was the best plunge I ever took...my brother in law is a BIG B&W fan as he uses them in his recording studio he owns, and he is thinking about switching to Axiom, now if Lucas would just switch his B&W's out for Axioms at the Skywalker Ranch

Sure they would swap out $8700 B&W 802's with $1240 Axiom M80. You guys would love to see that. Hell they can donate the 802's to me because it is inferior to the M80's.

lol...............now you just know that someone is going to come along and say cost has nothing to do with it!

I have heard the Nautilus 802's powered by some Mark Levinson gear and I have owned the M80's. If anyone anytime, anywhere wants to swap a set of Nautilus 802's for the 80's, I'm there in a heartbeat. I will bring whatever colour 80's they want and will personally deliver them anywhere in North America. Sorry folks but I'm with Saturn on this one. These speakers are in two completely different leagues. The B&W's are overpriced there is no doubt as I don't think any speaker should sell for that kind of money but let's keep this realistic here.

LOL, Oooohhh can't you at least leave us with our fantasies...

Seriously, nobody really believes that the M80's would out perform the 802's, do they? All I've read is the M60 sound "similar" to the 703. And the 703's are a good "reference" of what to expect.

It is a nice thought though

Why don't we call Lucas Farms and push that we would get them the M80's in ANY finish and ship, install and calibrate the speakers + a EP600. We make a frequency sweep and make sure it it is totally flat. They will be blown away that they would need to give up the 5 x 802's they currently have. We tell then we can easily take those 180lbs each monsters at our costs to ship to needy homes in the world. I'll take 3 and you take 2 because you feel sorry for me because my canadian dollar doesn't take it as far as your US Dollar.

All I REALLY want to know is if the $1200 CAD is worth it for HG Finishes?

All I feel right now is B&W Envy!!! LOL

Sorry Upgradeitis...

Really this is an issue only you can answer for yourself.

The speakers will sound the same. So the question is will the improved look be worth the $$$$$$ to YOU.

For me I didn't care that much and besides the standard finishes are well done. I have read Chesseroo say that when he toured the Axiom factory he saw the custom finishes are thought they were beautiful.

Now the best thing to do would be to get Axiom to send you samples of the standard finishes along with your choice of custom finishes and see what you think.

Good Luck, Jag

Well my speakers although not Axioms are High Gloss Olive Grey. I personally prefer high gloss because it does look like it costs a lot...and it does.

If you check out some really high end very well rated speakers such as Revel Salons, Wilson Watt Puppy, Merlin VSM, Dynaudio Contour, B&W Nautilus Special Edition all have that high gloss finish. Its for the looks. It does not benefit sonics.
