Could you guys please give me your opinions on which would be better to purchase, Toshiba or Hitachi?

I'm not too thrilled with my Mits anymore, and decided on these two brands. Although the size of screen has yet to be decided on, these are the models I've been contemplating.

Toshiba: ??H84
Hitachi: ??F500
Hitachi: LCD 50V500

I really appreciate your guys imput, for I'm really kind of lost on which way I should go between these two brands, and if by chance Hitachi gets more votes, then it's which technology, LCD or CRT?

My concern with CRT based RPTV's has always been burn in from when I play my X-Box, with that said, I don't play it very offten and when I do, it's never for any real long periods of time.

my father-in-law just got a new hitachi 50inch DLP big screen, that i watched the thanksgiving football games on. it was pretty awesome, but i did notice if you were out to the sides, or standing up, the screen would get black shades and be unviewable. but the overall picture was VERY impressive. just food for thought.

I looked at the 50V500 and came pretty close to buying one. In the end I got the Panasonic PT50-LC13 as I thought the black levels were better (less grey) and I got a good deal on it.

Kurt, you really should add the 50" Sony LCD (KDF-50WE655) to the mix. This is their 4th generation (I have the 2nd generation) and they have it figured out pretty well.

My dad has the 57F500 and it is a great deal for the money. I highly recommend it, although it is not as cool as the LCD's...

Front Projection all the way man...

There is nothing like High Def or DVD's on a 120" screen

ps: I know your not asking about FP, but if you do go that route, make sure to get one that is at least 720 resolution...

Thanks for the input guys, I knew I could count on you all.

I think I'll go with either the Hitachi LCD or possibly take a look at that Sony LCD.

Thanks again!

Go with the Toshiba, it has the new HD2+ chip. It is the newest DLP technology and has a HDMI (DVI is dead) connection. BTW, I don't own a HDTV but I'm in the market and have done quite a bit of research on DLP vs. LCD tv's in the last couple of weeks. I have seen the picture quality on many of these tv's and based on what I've read and seen I'm going with the Toshiba.
