A special thanks to Brady. Today, Brady(bray) made my day by visiting me for a listening session. Brady joins a list of distinguished Axiom members to grace my home. This list includes Peter(pmbuko), sushi, and alex(not currently active on the boards). I must say that meeting all of these members was an absolute pleasure.

Brady brought over and turned me on to some fabulous music by the likes of Boz Skaggs, Nickle Creek, and some music by the Doobie Bros that I had not previously heard. I liked the Nickle Creed CD so much that I plan to buy it tomorrow.

I forced Brady to listen to Nitty Gritty Dirt Band W/Jennifer Warrens and friends, and The Robert Cray Band and I also demoed HT using the Titan A.E dvd. I think he liked it.

I feel very fortunate to have had these folks visit my home. I have no friends locally with any interest nor understanding of my obsession with this audio hobby so it has been a great joy to me to have had these four Axiom members, who understand the "hobby", visit my home. You are all welcome back anytime.

Thanks again Brady! Hope to see you again soon.

Mike

Hey I noticed you got rid of the MG12. Hows the 1.6 treating yeah. When you get the chance you need to audition the Ushers. I was so close to getting the 1.6 and walked away from them and went with the Ushers. Your taste and interest in audio falls in the same spectrum so I thought I'd give ya a hollar on my latest.

So who is enjoying those silver surfers now that the MG12 are out of the picture?

Saturn,
I'm really enjoying the 1.6s. I'm in soundstage heaven.

The Ushers look great. There seems to be only one dealer in the U.S. which makes it hard to demo . Which model did you get?

Silver surfers are still in the mix.

I don't know if I got this suggestion from you. Try putting on the wall behind each Maggie a sleeping bag or comforter. You will notice the same great soundstage but with better definition. This is a cheap alternative that buying sound absorbers for the wall behind the Maggies. This tames the rear reflections of the out-of-phase sound coming from the rear.

I know if I resolve the glass window where there is lots of reflections on the floor to ceiling windows I know the bigger Maggies are the way to go. I actually bought another place and I will make it HT friendly but will not be ready till mid 2006. The room will be 23L x 25W with 10 foot ceilings. It can accomodate a bigger automatic roll down PJ screen. I will have walls on the each corner where speakers will be located which is more ideal than non perpendicular floor to ceiling windows. The equipment unit will be built into a wall and wires will be routed within walls which will make the fiancee happy.

So the "silver surfers" are working with the 1.6QR? Did you try to modify the caps and bypass crossover?

Spiffnme: These are the "Silver Surfers" I made for Mike. It is a twisted solid core sterling silver wire used for the tweeter attenuator for the Maggies.

I haven't treated the wall behind the speakers yet but I do have some ideas for a permanent panel (provided my wife accepts the idea and I think she will ). I do from time to time (when no one is at home) place a quilt over the 61" TV which really snaps the central image into sharp focus.

Those Ushers look great. I bet they sound as good as they look.

I haven't done any internal mods but I did bypass the tweeter fuse. I didn't notice a significant difference and I chickened out being afraid I might fry the tweeter if the volume accidently got turned up to high so I reversed the fuse bypass.

The "silver surfers" look like little Maggie speaker earrings.
