Do I dare hope? He just posted a reply with regards to studioprojects thread. The last time we saw him was September - a full TWO YEARS since his last appearance!! That year (2002) he made 262 posts!! Do you think we can anticipate more of a presence from the Commander-in-Chief?

Welcome Back!! We've missed you!!

I sure hope so. His input would be very valuable.

I suspect Ian stays in the bushes for good reason. While it would be great to see him on line, he would likely find himself being overwhelmed, inundated and with a new full time job - the forum.

I might also add that after watching what went on with DenonJeff (their product manager) on the AVS "Guest" forum, the number of questions was overwhelming and he finally gave up. There is also the troll factor to consider - they WILL come out and they tend to be relentless and burn up way too much useless band width. As cynical as this sounds, I would hate to see him get tied up in minutae and be a lighning rod for unneeded attacks.

While I would love to see him here (along wth more of Amie), better judgment on his part will likely prevail.

I'm sure that all the things you mentioned are factors in both Ian and Amie being as scarce around here as they are. And reasonably so. Isn't that a shame?

As you know, I post over at the av123 forum. Mark Shifter has a different philosophy and operates just the opposite from Ian when it comes to the forum. It's nice to have his input, but he is constantly requested to give special deals, his PM mailbox is always full (I know this because folks are always posting "Mark, you're mailbox is full), and he is swamped with emails (I know this because he keeps apologizing for being so behind in responding). Quite frankly, I don't know how he puts up with it.

I cannot blame Ian, or Amie, for avoiding all that hassle.

In reply to:

I don't get as much work done since I've joined this forum!!! But I'm still very glad I did!

Merry Christmas to all my "newish" friends and family here! (Just couldn't find a way to say it better than Peter did!)
