OK, I'm supposed to be wrapping up my HT today, and writing that big long article with the tons of pix that I've been promising…. So I'm going to try to keep this short yet explain my thoughts.

No, I'm not talking porn, and out of deference to our kind hosts here, I hope you won't either…at least for THIS thread!

OK, to be serious:
I've always had a fascination with charisma and beauty. I'm not sure if it's a photography/video production thing, but sometimes I'm very aware of a woman (or man, even) being caught perfectly at the right moment in their career, maybe with the right role in a movie, for example. It might be someone who has had a series of successful moments, but one just seems to "click". Sometimes, it can be a still photography session as well.

Again I'm being serious: There was a photo shoot of Charlize Therron several years ago in Playboy that I thought was amazing. Not at all porn in any form, the photos were reminiscent of 1940s and 1950s-era Hollywood. I've never seen her look so good. I can't throw out the issue; the photos to me are the quintessential moment of capturing timeless grace and beauty.

I can fall in love a little bit through photos and roles such as these.

More on-topic to this forum, I usually see examples of this in movies:

**Marisa Tomei in "My Cousin Vinny". She's had good roles, but this one takes the cake. I couldn't believe she wasn't a native New York Tuff-Chick when I saw her interviewed after. A well-deserved Oscar.

**Maria Conchita Alonso in "Moscow on the Hudson"

**Annette Benning in "The American President" (by the way, another "Guilty Pleasure")

**Emmanuelle Seigner as the French waif in "Frantic"

**Kathleen Turner in "Body Heat"

Anyone have any other examples of a role when someone was at their "hottest"? Anyone else fall in love a little during a 90 or 120 minute period?

(Hey, sorry, it's another snowy day here in NH, and this will keep you busy while I write that other post!)

I fell in love with Marissa Tomei, in My Cousin Vinnie. She DESERVED the oscar for that performance. Absolute perfection. Unfortunately she hasn't really had a role worthy of her talents since. She had a small role in "What Women Want" with mel Gibson, and showed the same magnificent spark, but she just wasn't on the screen very long.

Agree also with Annette Benning in "The American President." In the same vein, I also loved "Dave" with Kevin Kline who had the perfect role as Otto in "A Fish Called Wanda." I can still hear him calling "A**hole." .

Should I mention the obvious?
Rex Harrison in "My Fair Lady;"
Robert Preston is "Music Man" or "Victor/Victoria."
Audrey Hepburn in "Roman Holiday." (Her first movie, for cripes sake!)
Katherine Hepburn in..............oh take your pick -"African Queen," "Lion In Winter," etc., etc., etc.
Gregory Peck in "To Kill A Mockingbird."
James Cagney in "White Heat."

I have to stop now, cuz I gotta make a trip to the library. It's a good thing, or else this post would be 2 pages long. I am a consumate film buff, with particular interest in the 1930s and 1940s films. They are the ones I grew up on watching on TV in the 1950s. I still love them to this day, watch them over and over and over, and yes, Turner Classic Movies is my favorite channel.

alright, this'll betray my sci-fi/fantasy love here but...

Harrison Ford - Han Solo (Star Wars)

Mark Hamill - The Joker (Batman-The Animated Series)

Christopher Reeve - Kal-El (Superman, duh)

Bruce Campbell - Ash Williams (Evil Dead flicks)

Humphrey Bogart - Philip Marlowe (The Big Sleep)

Alec Guiness - the whole figgin D'Ascoyne family (Kind Hearts and Coronets)

yeah, i know. pretty mainstream flicks (mostly), but can you REALLY see anyone else playing those parts and making it as good or believeable?

Hey, you guys keep picking, ummm, guys.

I'm talking about Hot Chicks here! Look at my list then look at yours! Don't you get it? I started this thread to get recommendations for movies with Hot Chicks. There wasn't any deep meaning to anything I posted above. That was just to get past the censors. Harrison Ford? Sean Connery? NO!

Give me a role like Christie Brinkley in Vacation, Dammit!

You guys scare me... Kansas City is off!

I can't imagine ANYONE else in any of bogie's roles. From the amoral Rick in "Casablanca," to Charlie in "African Queen," to Fred C. Dobbs in "Treasure Of The Sierra Madre." Who could have done those roles better?

Can you believe that Ronald Reagan was the first choice for Rick in Casablanca. Meaning no disrespect to Reagan's acting ability (I enjoyed a lot of the movies he made), he couldn't hold a candle to Bogie as Rick. It just would NOT have worked.

Sorry, but I have another one with a guy. Not only my favorite role of all time, but a great movie to boot.

Val Kilmer as Doc Holiday in Tombstone. He was just awesome in that movie. The script writers gave him some great lines, which certainly helps as well.

This will probably get me banned and sent to the loony bin, but for some reason the dinner scene in "The Hunt for Red October" always compels a rewind or 2. I could watch Sean Connery eat for the lenght of the movie. I will be quiet now.

I don't know why but Brad Pitt in 12 monkeys and in Fight Club makes me wonder if he really is crazy. Fight Club is still one of those movies I could watch over and over. Quite a mind trip. If you have not seen it, do yourself a favor and take the time to watch.

I agree on Kate Beckensale. She worked very well. Which led to horrible disapointment at her in Van Helsing (PU).
Kate Blanchet in "The Gift"
Helena Bonhom Carter in "Fight Club"
Hmm seems to be a theme I have going here of skinny pale english women...

Oh, and Scarlett Johansen in Lost in Translation. Very much wow.

The Gift was most excellent as is Kate Blanchet as an actress. It's one of those movies that I just can't get out of my mind. Billy Bob Thornton, who co-wrote that movie is also an excellent actor. He was most convincing in Sling Blade.

Cate Blanchette is a most wonderful actress. I first saw her in 3 movies where each character was very different, "Elizabeth," "The Gift," and "Bandits." Being that versatile demonstrates a prodigious talent. She's also a delight to look at.

Okay, you guys are going to think I'm nuts, but Holly Hunter is IT. All the rest of the glamour queens you guys have mentioned don't even come close to Holly for me. Well, okay...Audrey Hepburn is pretty tough to beat. And as far as acresses in one particular role that leave me drooling and barely verbal (no particular order):

1) Ingrid Bergman - Casablanca
2) Naomi Watts - Mulholland Drive
3) Sarah Polley - No Such Thing (there's an intangible something here I can't pin down...)
4) Holly Hunter - Raising Arizona (leave me alone...)
5) Kate Winslet - Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

I'm sure more will come to me. I'll append my list when they do.

Dude, what about Helen Hunt? Not that she's been in very many good movies...

Holly Hunter's a great actress with some great roles, but she doesn't do much for me in that way.

I said leave me alone, dammit!

Seriously, the Holly Variable is a composite of a few things: The perpetual twinkle in the eye, for sure. That kills me. The smile, too. And petite, smart, funny, great figure, vulnerability, attitude, looks terrific in old faded black jeans (saw that in person! Yay me!), and of course...the accent. The fact that she looks sorta like an old girlfriend also plays into it a little, but I think I probably started dating Mary because she looked like Holly.

Helen Hunt? Hmmm...catch me on the right day, maybe.

Here's a question: Am I going to hell for thinking Kirsten Dunst was a knockout before she was old enough to vote?

I thought he did a terrific job in Snatch also. But his performance in Troy was weak but then that whole movie was lame and it was probably hard for him to take it seriously.

I fell in love with (dont laugh) Laura Dern in Wild At Heart and Rambling Rose. She plays a great trollop.
Oh, and Mark
I'm with you on Charli.............
Let me rephrase
I agree with you about Charlize Theron. I dont think she can act, but I never get tired of looking at her.
For guys in a perfect role I like Tom Hanks in The Green Mile.

Bray - Good call on Laura Dern....I am mesmerized by her in everything she's in. Not completely sure why.

I mentioned this on Mark's other thread, but it's appropriate for this. When I first saw the movie Dangerous Liaisons years ago, I was glued to the TV....an amazing feat getting a fairly young kid glued to a 17th century themed movie. First and foremost, the dialog and delivery was amazing....the lies, the deceit, the calculation. Add to that the amazing delivery by Glenn Close, Michelle Pheiffer, & John Malcovich. I have been a fan of Malcovich ever since. However, this movie (along w/ Tequila Sunrise)helped to seal Michelle Pheiffer's name on the top of my list for a long time.

Another one of those movies for me was Somewhere In Time. Jane Seymour was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. For her age, she still looks amazing to this day.

What else....I was enamored w/ Madelaine Stowe for some time following Last of the Mohicans. I'd have to agree w/ everyone's discussion of Charleze Theron....very classic beauty.

i meant Trading Places, with dan akroyd and eddie murphy. but, paige davis....umm, yes..

BTW- there are some rather revealing pics of here on the net. apparently she was doing some sort of fund-raiser for the new york theater society and she got a little carried away. during the fund-raiser, they had a faux strip tease, and she really got into it. after being egged on by the crowd, she showed a little skin, but not enough to make playboy or nothing. go check it out.

Along with Event Horizon this was one of those rare movies where afterwards, I was angry they stole 2 hours of my life from me. I suppose it's a good reminder to keep my expectations low so they are easily met....

Good call on Phoebe Cates.

I kind of cringe while saying this…, but I love Moulin Rouge and Nicole Kidman is stunning in it!

Also...maybe it’s me, but I find Juliette Lewis (Strange Days, Cape Fear) sexy in a kinda odd way. She’s not exactly someone I call pretty, but man, she’s sexy.

Very much in the Jennifer Connelly camp. Also since Labyrinth.
"You remind me of the babe."
"What babe?"
"The babe with the power."
"What power?"
"The power of voodoo."
"Who do?"
"You do."
"Do what?"
"Remind me of the babe."

Juliette Lewis is sexy in a dirty sort of way. She looks as if she wouldn't have any hang-ups.

I'll also cast a vote for Angie Harmon.

First of all, almost mentioned the horsey scene earlier, but forgot.....such a classic scene. I will have to say that Jennifer Connely has aged VERY well.....more elegant by the day.

Another ditto on Angie Harmon. She really needs to do more.

yeah, i'll give props to Jennifer Connelly. she doesnt look like she's really aged much at all, even looking back at labyrinth! plus she's soooooo hot in Dark City.

I also have a weakness for Kristin Davis (Sex and the City). She has that cutie / girl next door thing going on, yet is completely hot. Far better than Sarah Jessica Parker IMHO.

I'll second Jessica Alba.

Now these aren't your "classic" beauties, but in some way, I am attracted:
Selma Blair
Kathleen Robertson

Other Notables:
Bridgette Wilson
Jennifer Love Hewitt - Not a great actress, but always wears nice shirts!

What started out as a thread about "that one, perfect role" is now "forget about acting skills -- who turns you on?"

I'll play.

Kate Winslet in "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" -- for BOTH versions of the game.

Selma Blair - ah yeah, I excellent choice one of my favorites too, never like any of her movies, though.

Kathleen Robertson - hmmm, didn’t know who she is...
I searched IMDB and saw she did Splendor, ... the only thing I remember about that movie is her amazing face... gorgeous eyes.

Bridgette Wilson- love her on Love Stinks

I don't remember the movie, but I'm guessing it's titled something like "Shallow annoying marina chics from San Francisco." Or something like that.....

Oh, and I agree with PM Kate Winslet in ESotSM was fantastic. But I like women who do funky things with their hair.

Curtis,
i always found Penelope Cruz was a real Jeckyl & Hyde type of a woman - sometimes she really does it for me, and other times she just has hairy armpits. Scary.

My picks would have to be Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, Marina Sirtis in ST:TNG, Katie Holmes in Dawson's Creek, Mena Suvari in American Beauty and Kate Hudson in Almost Famous. Also props to Angelina Jolie in pretty much everything she's been in!

I've also been a big fan of Kathleen Robertson since Scary Movie 2 and Bridgette Wilson since Billy Madison. Those two ladies are gorgeous. I also saw the Angelina Jolie plug during the Ocean's 12 previews and I was stunned. Sometimes the good lord works wonders...

Two other beauties that I forgot to mention are Liz Hurley (despite her idiocy) and Elisha Cuthbert.

Yeah...that would be...but I do not think I have come across that yet.

Angelina Jolie and Kate Winslet also run hot and cold for me....but I volunteer for the Angelina roll out of bed test.

Elisha Cuthbert looked great in The Girl Next Door.

I could not get enough of Paz Vega in Spanglish.

i'm honestly not sure where i saw that Curtis, it may even have been in one of her movies that she went au naturelle. I just recall seeing pics and it was not pretty. Just watched her in Blow on the weekend and i have to say she is the best looking coke addict i've ever seen!

Hey, you guys keep picking, ummm, guys. I'm talking about Hot Chicks here!

Chicks? You want chicks? I have but one thing to say...

"Yeaaaahhhh baby!!! Yeaaaah!"

Well, OK, 2 things... "You're one very sexy baby, baby"

Austin Powers - all 3 of them. This series is an absolute smorgasbroad.

International Man of Mystery - Elizabeth Hurley - I'm STILL trying to get my computer to materialize her. Look up "hot, damn hot!" in the dictionary and you get her pic. You get a 2 fer with this one Udenio Fabriana as "Allota Faginga". She can fart in my hot tub any time.

The Spy Who Shagged Me - Heather Graham - What can I say other than "highly shaggable"?

Goldmember - Beyonce Knowles - Uhhhh... Also "highly shaggable"! We also have Fook Mi and Fook Yu, as well as the FEMBOTS, some really "high caliber" babes also.

And let's not forget Tia Carrere from Wayne's World. I wouldn't mind taking her for a test drive on the ole Posturepedic either...

Is that what you were after Mark?
