Anyone here have or heard a complete HT system comprised of all M2i speakers? I will be using a sub with them, and am considering the Athena AS-P400, any thoughts or comments on this subwoofer? M2i's for the mains, center, and surrounds with the Athena sub. After I read the review on the M2i, that's the type of speaker I would like, clean, clear, dynamic, almost holographic in nature. With the Athena picking up the low end, since I can't afford the $3000.00 Revel sub. Any input would be appreciated.

The M2i is a very good speaker for mains and center. However, for surrounds, I would recommend you get QS4's. They will serve you much better as surrounds, especially if you are watching movies. If you want a 5.1 system for mostly music, get all M2i's.

Patch, Thanks for the reply, I will definitely keep that in mind. I plan on about 75% HT and 25% music, but I don't really want to compromise my music since I already have a DVD-A player.

Well, you're going to compromise regardless, unless you add in more speakers as DVD-A and DD/DTS are encoded with different speaker placement in mind.

I have M2i's for both main and rears and they sound great even in home theatre. My preference to get M2's for rears instead of Qs4's was due to the fact that they are timber is matched the same, they cost less, and the M2's are a much better speaker than the Qs4's.

Thanks Poorboy, what are you using for a center or sub? I read the M2i just begs to be matched with a good subwoofer.

you could couple those with an EP175, EP350, or another companies sub. Take a look at the 25-31 by SVS. 549$ US, I think.

I am using the VP100 for center and it has exceeded my expectations based on my readings that the center was so-so. I find it perfectly matched to the M2's and it is clear and natural sounding. I don't know what people are talking about saying the center is so-so, I think it is great value for the money. As for the sub I went with an SVS 20-39pci for $599 US or about $1200 Can when you factor in cable,taxes, shipping and exchange. This sub is worth every penny and more. It is tall vertically but you need the size to get down really low, as physics will dictate. This sub will really impress every audiophile that sees and hears your system. When you feel an earthquake or jet take off you will know that you made the right choice. Hey read the reviews, for the money you won't find a better one. The drawback is that you will become fanatical about them just like axiom customers.

That SVS looks impressive, I wonder how musical it is though with the M2i's. I read a great review on the Athena AS-P400, and was leaning towards it especially because of price, but the SVS isn't that much more.

as far as I have heard from all SVS owners (and some on this board who couple SVS with Axiom), they are very very musical subs as well as subs that can hammer it out.

If I had more money and a more soundproof place and larger listening room, I would buy two of them. I didn't really want something the size of two 16-46's in my living room. It would also make me fear for the structural integrity of the duplex I live in.
