Hello fellow Axiom owners...
I purchased my first Axioms last August (M22s & VP100) and have been very impressed with them since day one. I've been lurking this board for quite some time now, just popping my head every other week and while I have read threads comparing direct vs radiating surrounds I have a hard time figuring out what I want.

I'm using speakers from a previous setup (Onkyo HTIB) for surrounds and while they are OK I would like to get timbre matched ones. I've never heard radiating surrounds so I'm not sure if I'll like them or not and am just curious as to what you all prefer. I use my surrounds solely for movies and listen to music only in stereo. I'd greatly appreciate it if you all would chime in and give your thoughts/opinions on what I should go with.
Thanks in advance!
Ray

EASY question.. hands down, now contest.. get the QS4's.

with the criteria you have set(movies only), the only other choice would be the QS8's. the quad-polar design of these speakers really brings the viewer "into" the movie, instead of watching the movie.. i cant say enough about the QS series.. buy a pair NOW!!

If your usage is...

Movies only: QS4s.

Music only: M2s.

Mix-n-match? QS4s.

The QS line is, IMO, the strongest speakers in Axiom's lineup. I don't mean "powerful" (well, duh), but they are phenomenal for environmental effects and diffusion of sound - but precise enough when need be to do pinpoint location work, too.

Great speakers.

I've got to agree. I have QS8's and they are fabulous. They present an amazingly immersive experience for HT.

The ONLY reason to even doubt this strategy is if you are committed to multichannel audio (DVDA/SACD). If those formats do not represent a signficant amount of your usage, get the QS surrounds. It's a no brainer. Really. Do it. Right now. Go!

Those replies were precisely what I was looking for... my order will be placed shortly!

The way my room is set up, the surrounds are mounted about 3.5-4 feet above ear level. Is that OK with the QS4s and since they're quadpolar I assume there wouldn't be any benefit in pointing them downward like my current ones are, correct?

Any of you using the full metal bracket?

flush mount is fine, no "pointing" necessary. the QS4 comes with a T-bracket to flush mount it.. no need to get the full metal bracket.. just try and get it in a stud for a good secure fit.. if not, then use strong drywall screws, that have the ez-lock plastic sleeve.

3-4 feet above ear level is perfect.. you will have no probs..

now go order, now!!

I have a decent-sized collection of SACDs and DVD-A,s and I'm still happy with my QS8s!

Whoo Hoo!

Now THAT's decisiveness! FO speakers are great, and that is a short wait. I'm sure you will enjoy them.

I also agree with Engine Joe, the Qs8's are an engineering marvel. For music they Superboy, for HT they are Superman.
