... all the fuss is about and I must admit, I like them. I am a bit surprised that so many reviews call them bright - they seem warm to me - but the sound has grown on me. BTW, they are paired with an SVS PB10-ISD and transition quite nicely at 80 Hz.

So the question I have running through my mind is, what other 3-5 speakers should I buy to pair with these. My HT (still being built) is 13' x 16' x 8.5' - small. I'd think I'd be doing quite well with a 5 more M2i's, (and maybe another PB10) but I'm not sure what I'd be missing.

So please tell me, what would I miss?

Dale, welcome. Instead of two of the extra M2s, get QS4s for side surrounds and then you won't be missing a thing.

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.

If you're listening to a lot of music having 5 M2s would probably be perfect, but for movies the QS4s and QS8s are supposed to make a big difference in the "seamlessness" of the surround effects.

I second the vote for 3 M2s up front and QS4s or 8s as surrounds. Maybe even go for QS8s to get a driver match with the M2s.

The only reason for going with a different center IMO would be if you needed the extra magnetic shielding. My center sits on top of a CRT and I got some noticeable fringing until I replaced the M2 center with a VP100.

Welcome to the M2 club !!

I just checked my notes and found that I *did* think the VP100 sounded a bit better than the M2 as a center. This was with M60 mains, not M2 mains, however.

The difference was fairly small so I still think 3 M2s would be great, just didn't want to leave you feeling that there was no benefit to the VP100. I only have 2 M2s so have never tried 3 across the front but M2 as a center with M60 mains sure sounded great and there are other people on here who swear by M2/M3 centers.

The only catch is that you have to keep them vertical (vertical and inverted seems to be best). They don't sound quite as good lying on their sides.

So... guess I'm saying that I would spend $$ on upgrading the surrounds before I spent $$ upgrading the center, but both would be money well spent.
