I am looking for a receiver as well. I looked up the specs on the Panasonic XR50 and noticed that in stereo two channel mode, THD is .09%. While in Home theater mode, THD is .9%. Is that an audible difference in distortion?

TNT, if you otherwise like the features and price of the XR50, that distortion rating shouldn't be a significant concern. Blind tests have indicated that when playing music(rather than pure test tones)THD has to exceed 1% before it begins to become audible. So, although some anguish over differences of hundredths of a percent, the concern is unnecessary.
