it all really depends on the size/config of your room. plus, your listening preference and type of receiver you have will also play a part in your possible selections.

as a hole, that is a fine system for a small to midsize room, but may i suggest getting one of the QS series for surrounds instead of the direct firing M2's or M3's. their overall performance is well worth the slightly higher price.

my problem is that i don't have good mounting places for the QS series - also the room (22 * 20) has a lot of open wall areas.

someone suggested me that in such a situation it is not advisable to go in for bipolar or quad surrounds - any suggestions ?

well, quit listening to "someone".. the quadpolar design is perfect for when you have a large area to cover. the QS series spread the sound in four different directions, allowing for greater diversity in theri placement. plus, if you dont have a good place to mount a QS speaker, then where would you put the M2/M3? there are great stands avail, and you can easy mount them to the wall with the T-bracket which is included with each speaker. i honestly think a QS series speaker would be your best bet with your set-up.

also, being that your room is a slightly on the bigger size, may i suggest you get the VP150 center.. the 100 might strain a little. just my opinion..

good luck in your selection process!!

thanks for the suggestion.

is it not necessary for the quad surrounds to have walls to reflect the sound ? one side of my room is wall-less (it opens into the breakfast / kitchen area) - hence my concern.

walls help, but they are not necessary. you have valid concerns, but the QS series are concern solvers!!

As the picture below shows, I have QS8's mounted on both sides like that, and they sound great from any listening position, I can stand by the M80's that you can see to the right side of the pic and hear sounds from the QS8. The QS8's are truly amazing at adapting to where they are place in my opinion.

The QS8's are the most adaptable speaker I have ever owned. I have positioned them in weird spots in 4 different apartments and they always sound fantastic and give an enveloping surround sound.

As for the VP100 and M50's, they will easily fill your space as long as the ceilings are not extremely high.

What kind of use is it for, mainly? Music or movies? What amp are you going to use with them?

the ceiling would be between 10-12 feet.

am generally listening to music - but the family does watch a lot of movie.

amp - i am looking at the onkyo 3702 or a denon.
