I did an autoset/roomeq with my denon 2805 and and stored it.I absolutely hate it. Anyone tell me how I can delete/cancel/return to default this stored setting? I liked the default better and would like to use it unitl I can do a manual set-up.

Thanx
Tom

Tom,
While I can't help you out on how to delete the auto setup settings in the Denon, I am curious to know what it is you disliked about the adjusted settings?

Curious why you absolutely hate it? I have the 2805 and it does an accurate job at setting the delay distance and levels of each speaker. However, I have decided I don't like the Room EQ adjustment, so I do have that turned off.

To reset you receiver to factory presets look on page 85 of your manual, step 15.....Switch off the unit using the main unit's power operation switch. Hold the INPUT and ANALOG buttons in at the same time, turn the unit back on, the screen will flash for about 1 second, then you can let go of the buttons. This will reset the microprocessor.

If I were you, I would leave the setup options for level and distance in tact, but don't turn on Room EQ. This can be found in the Auto Setup/Room EQ menu. If you select the Room EQ Setup sub menu, select ALL (default), then select OFF, you will not be using the Room EQ characteristics. Also, the next option down is for Direct Mode, I also leave that turned OFF for Room EQ.

Also, the autosetup will normally set your mains to large, I suggest using the small option, with crossover of 80hz on the receiver, AND turn your crossover out of the way on the sub...

ps:still curious what you don't like?

good luck

The center speaker was doing all the work......Set-up was done at reference volume, still didn't sound right at any volume. Room eq definitely not right.

I have always been a fan of doing it the old fashion way for this very reason. Very few receivers get it right. Some get it close but I have yet to see one get it bang on.
In case anyway cares, the Yamaha 2500 did the best job of any receiver I have ever owned or played with but it still was off on more then one setting.

If the distance seems right, keep it. Mine was right on. As far as balancing the levels it did a good job also (give or take 1db) Auto setup gives you an all around good starting place.
To get rid of the eq (which I hated too)
With your remote hit system setup then scroll to "room eq setup" and hit enter. A screen that says "relation to the surround" mode will come up. Hit enter again. A screen that says select eq curve should be visible. Scroll down to where it says room eq hit your directional arrows left or right to turn it off. Hit enter.
That should be it.
Although I also hated most of the eq-ing done there was a flat curve it gave me that wasnt too bad.
For direct mode eq on or off hit system setup again and scroll down to "direct mode setup hit enter and the rest is pretty self-explanatory.
To clear everything including distance and speaker levels go through auto setup again and at the end it will give you the option to trash it or not.
Hope this helps.

I guess I'm a little late. I hate when the phone rings in the middle of a post/reply.

When you say "doing all the work" are you talking about the dialog of movies, which is normal, the center pretty much does most of the dialog? When in surround modes, you can hit the big circle button on the remote, and it will cycle on your screen the levels that were set for each speaker. I think mine are +6.5 db's for the right/left, +7.5db's for the center, 0db's for the sub, +7db left surround, and +6db for my right (it is a little closer).

The only thing I noticed when turning on Room EQ in Normal mode, was the M60's seemed to sound more mid-rangey (is that a word?) so I axed the room eq

Depending on the television show or what kind of music I'm listening to in which mode, I like the flat curve it gave me.
The flat curve with bad recordings in neo6 sounds better than stereo pure direct in my opinion. I jack with it often though.
