Anyone else ver get this error message when working with their MX 700;
"Com Port 1 is being used by another device or application."
I get it when connecting it to the Com 1 Port, and when connecting it to a USB port with a USB/Serial port connection converter.
I installed the software that came with the cable,
And I also checked the drivers for the Com Port.
All seemed fine.
Any ideas?

Try and reload the software first.

If that doesn't solve the problem, go to Remote Central and search in the Home Theater Master Forum. I suspect you might have to find an earlier version of the software. Issues like this pop up when they provide an update to the software.

Give Mike a call at Surf Remote Control (assuming you got the 700 from him). He pretty much knows all things MX-700.

Haven't had the problem, so this is conjecture.

Well,
I reloaded the software (for the USB adaptor) three times, and on the third try it finally worked! I was finally given a choice of USB #4 - Belkin Serial Adaptor in my Com port section. So I switched the setting in MX Editor to that port and stopped getting the error message.
Now all I have to do is track down commands for the Yamaha 2500, which I have not seen anywhere yet.
I'm sure they are out there.
None of the other Yamaha Recievers that they had already loaded into the database worked this one.
Thanks Ray,
Tom

Tom,

Try these1400 commands

This set has the 1400 and 2400. The very first file claims to have an "almost complete" list of Yammy receiver codes, including hard to find discrete codes. Note that these are .mxd/.mxf codes, but should be usable via Universal Browser.

Enjoy.

Ray

EDIT - Sorry, the 1400 is last year's 1500. The codes should work on the 2500.

Ray,
I tired the 1400 codes with the test feature in the MX Editor page and they did not work.
I have seen the remote that comes with the 1400/2400 being listed as a different remote.
The Yamaha site has a pdf of codes for the 2500/1500.
Can I enter them manualy in some fashion?
Or am I stuck with the "learing" function for now?
Tom

If the 1500/2500 codes are hex codes, you can probably convert/enter them using a piece of software on the Remote Central site for the 700. If not, learning works and it doesn't take long.

BTW - did you look at that on "master Yammy codes" file I pointed you to? Might be a nice surprise for you.

I believe so. Go to my earlier post and click on the highlighted "This post". The very first file (Yamaha Extended IR Codes) is the one you should try.

Bren - I have GOT to find those commands!!! With the "discrete wife codes" capability, these things would be cheap at 10X the price!!!!

I've said it before, and I will say it again...
I love these forums.
Beautiful.

Well, I had to fix a typo in the comic... they misspelled "RAY" as "BERT"... but other that that, when that came up in my desk calendar, I put it aside thinking of Ray.

You're lucky you had all the right letters available in the comic to recreate his name. Freehand font replication is a b****.
