Anyone tried out Gmail yet from Google? I got an invite yesterday and it's kind of neat the way they have it set-up.

I've had it for about 6 months now, still not sure why I need 1000 MB of email storage .

It seems to be a lot more spam free than Hotmail.

If anyone still needs an invite, pm me your email adress.

I kind of stayed away from Gmail after I read all that stuff about them wanting you to never delete anything, and then after so long your emials become public, then Google can database your emails, link it with your IP/Name and create a sort of user profile on you, tracking your identity all over the net, where your surf, etc... and sell that info to advertisers. Maybe its all hooey, but I've got SMTP anyway, so why would I need web based email.

I've also been using gmail for a couple months now and at first I really didn't like the interface. But after using it for a while I am a convert and totally dig it.

I really like how they thread your email conversations (kinda like nested view in this forum). Anyways I have 50 email invites if anyone is interested (I think everyone has 50).

Go for it and give it a shot, what can it hurt? If you don't like it then don't use it but it you may find yourself a convert.

They have POP3 access as well - I use Outlook Express to check my messages. They also provide SSL encryption.

They just upped the storage to 2 gigs. And I have around 50 invites now on two accounts. PM me if you want one.

Is it still invite only?

James, yes I believe it's still invite only at this time.

Invite only is a good way to prevent bots from autograbbing tons of addresses and using them for spam... Also keeps the people that tend to register a new htomail account every time they change their pants, from using gmail

I thought that also until I got Gmail up and running and found out you can in fact delete mail anytime you like.
