Hi,
I have canare 4s11 speaker wire. It's pretty thick. So i was wondering how far the back of QS4 to the wall when using standard bracket that comes with QS4? Does it have enough space for locking banana plug such as WBT banana plug from partsexpress.com?

thanks.

i have the QS8's, but the back of the QS4's and 8's is the same.

i am sorry to say, but you WILL NOT have enough room behind the QS4's to use banana plugs if you use the standard T-brackets that are supplied. they are designed to mount VERY flush to the wall, and there is NO room for banana plugs, or just about any sort of dedicated wire ends. i just stuck the speaker wire in the hole on the posts, and screwed the cap down.

now, if you were to get the FMB's, or some other after market speaker mount, then you would have plenty of room. just not with the provided T-brackets.

BTW- if i am wrong, and you CAN do it, i want to see pics.. cause i tried, and there was NO way..

Thanks, bigjohn.

I don't have QS yet. That's why i'm thinking if i can get it with standard bracket or order optional bracket. For a pair , it costs me around $70.

I agree. I ended up just using the bare wire and the supplied QS8 t bracket.

i have never even seen the FMB's, but everyone that has them says they are perfect. plus, i think the newer speakers have some sort of quick bolt type connection, to make them very easy to connect to the brackets and go on the wall.

just make sure and hit a stud in the wall, or use sturdy drywall anchors when mounting. i dont know about the QS4's, but the QS8's are surprisingly heavy.

I have 3 QS4's mounted with FMB's...2 on the side walls and 1 from the ceiling behind my head (when I'm sitting in the "captain's chair"). The brackets are very sturdy, although I've read where some people put a large rubber washer between the speaker body and the bracket...it's hard to get the little screw tight enough.

I got the brackets just to give me a little extra "adjustability"...you can change the angle up-down and side-side very easily. And the rear speaker looks better with nice shiny gold banana plugs stickin' outta it!!

And the QS4's are also deceivingly heavy. I dropped one while mounting...off my wrist and onto my foot...thank God, no damage to the speaker!! Me on the other hand..."it's just a flesh wound"...

What I'm planning on doing is, before I put on the T Bracket on the wall, I will make a hole in the wall and put in a light swith box. Have the speaker wire come out of the light switch box and connect it to the QS8 with banana plugs. That way when I hang the QS8's on the wall the banana plugs go right in the light switch box. You won't be able to see the box cause the QS8 will cover it. I haven't tried it cause my HT room isn't ready for any speakers to be mounted. If anyone decides to try this, please let me know if it works.

Good idea. I actually have junction box where the surround wire comes out of the wall. I used a wall plate to make it pretty but it's hidden by the speaker anyways. So I just used bare wire since there was no space for the plugs. If you leave the plate off and let the plugs go into the box, that'd work.

The banana plugs are more for your piece of mind, bare wire is fine

Frankly speaking, I don't like to hang heavy speaker on the wall. Axiom has a new stand for QS series. It looks nice, but it's too expensive for me. Probably, it's a DIY project for me this summer...:)

Hve no fears about hanging the speakers on the wall. Unless the termites have been feasting on your studs, the walls are made of paper or there are no studs to be found, the T bracket provides plenty of weight dispersion on the wall. Couple that with a couple of dry wall anchors and you're set. Dry wall is surprisingly strong if you spread the weight out enough...

But - to double check - are there any horror stories out there of people whose speakers have fallen from the wall? I have only heard stories about people QS's "jumping" on the brackets - but I suspect foul play.
