I'm curious as well. I love my XM car tuner, but a dedicated unit for the home would be neat (and I'm not talking about the adapter kits that are already available).

Not to hijack this thread (Bob, I'm interested in that tuner also but can't offer any help), but this is related:

Did anyone else see in this week's JC Penney flyer that if you buy $100 in Dockers pants, shirts, etc... you get a free XM Roady2 PLUS three free months of XM?

It sounds too good to be true, but I haven't found anything at all in the fine print to dissuade me, especially since I could spend $100 on Dockers anyway with golf season coming! And, they hav lots of Dockers stuff on sale as well! I'm a sucker for this sort of thing: If I can get (normally) $175 worth of stuff for $100, and have a $100~120 XM unit thrown in with $39 worth of programming, what the hell....!

The JC Penney flyer offers this link for more info. I was planning on going tonight!

{{{{Bump}}}}}

I can't believe no one posted regarding the free XM unit.

No one is interested, or no one saw it?

Hi Mark,

I once got two pairs of shorts from Old Navy free with an A,T&T cell phone activation! I think it was a $50 credit. Like you, I've always found these deals an enticement.

I'm undecided about XM and Sirius. My car reviewer friends who drive all over the country love these services. But it's yet another monthly fee for life, and I'm already paying plenty for all the cable HD stuff I get. For the little I drive, I can't really justify it.

Regards,

A colleague got Sirius and loves it, not only because of the selection but because it records playlists, so he knows he always has something he wants to listen to in his car. I guess it's a big like Tivo in that respect.

Big difference between Sirius and XM however. If you're into NPR, get Sirius. If you're into Nascar, get XM. You can't get one on the other.

Not to offend anyone, but I'll take NPR over NASCAR, but I have great reception for NHPR...it's one of the few stations I DO get well... and Sirius isn't giving away any free receivers!

Ray:
Bought a few pairs of Dockers and a shirt... You gotta look good to play good. I'm thinking I need to make that long drive (oh wait..I'll have XM it won't be so bad!) to make that long drive... and chip and a putt in NY this summer!

Actually I saw it, but I'm not a fan of Dockers and the scales just got tipped in favor of Sirrus when I found out that Ol' Vin Scelsa has his Idiot's Delight show on Sirrus on Sunday nights.
My big question about this sattelite radio thing now is if there is a TIVO sort of function that will enabel me to time shift shows to listen when I want to.
That will be todays investigation...
Hopefully tomorrow will be buying a Sirrus unit and hooking it up.
