I just ordered a Denon DVD-2900S (the silver version).

I couldn't pass up $509 with free shipping. (Ecost)

Roger is going to kill me.

Give in.

You know you want it.

This baby was made for HDTV.

Am I helping?

If I had the money at the moment, I'd give in! I've given up on the Denon Link of the 3910, and the 2200 seems to get reviewed as well as the 2910 anyway. Besides, if I can't make Ray happy by finally getting back to programming my 700, I could at least have made him happy by buying the player....!

Of course, they DO have the 3910 at a great price, too.

I've had numerous people tell me they liked the 2900 just as well as the 3910. For $200+ savings, I had to go with the 2900.

Yo spiff, if you DO get killed...can I by any chance be first on the list for the 2900 since obviously you won't be needing it anymore? I'd take really good care of it.

I know.

I don't even have a set that can accept component inputs. S-Video is as good as I can get right now.

Spiff, congrats!
Hope you are going to take advantage of the wonderful sound output of that beast via the analog outs and the DACs in it. That was the big reason why I was so swayed, based on Ray's experience with it. Based on what you and some of the other guys say about the Rotel gear, I'll bet it sounds incredible.
Heck, mine has been here for 3 months and I have yet to even start calibrating the Video side of it! That is how much use it gets just for music!
(and that also might be an indication of how good the picture is right out of the box!)

BTW, a question to all;
when I DO get around to playing with the video settings, which comes first, the TV or the 2900?

Enjoy the 2900, and the Silver looks really, really nice.

Craig-
Does Roger know yet?

"Move aside.... Dead Man Walking!"

And on the same topic, does anyone want to make a donation to the "Buy Mark a new player while you can get them ridiculously cheap so his eyes don't have to look like that from watching DVDs on an inferior player and he'll pay you back real soon he promises oh pretty please" fund?

And he plays two MMORPG games which have a monthly charge. Yeah...that's the ticket. My wasting $500 is nothing.

Sure. That'll work. <rolls eyes>

Does the 2900 look anything like your old DVD player?

Even better: did your old DVD player... break?

The 2900 is about twice the size.

My Pioneer works just fine. (damn it!)

My only saving grace is that I had intended to get the 2900 last year for about $600 through a friend at PC Mall. That fell through, as they were out of stock and I got impatient and canceled the order.

I guess I'll just tell him it became available at a really great price and I grabbed it.

Precede that with "I've been a very bad boy!" And then say "Spank me! Spank me!" afterwards.

I'll move the Pioneer upstairs into the bedroom and likely sell the old Panasonic, or give it to my brother.

Dude,

You just came back from Europe, where I'm sure you spent megabucks. An additional $510 shouldn't make much of a difference. You could try not mentioning the new player. Maybe he won't even notice it.
