so i called hitachi
and they said
you cannot put any weight
on top of your 46f510
but that's crazy!
it's a big screen tv
meant for ht
i have a 30pound center channel
now i need to install a shelf?

yeah, many RPTVs -- especially those using DLP technology -- are just plastic shells. You'd be amazed and how empty they are inside. Most of the technology lives in less than a cubic foot of space in a corner on the bottom.

Maybe you can use all your DualDiscs as a shelf? At least they'd be of some use... (I'm kidding, just kidding)

i also just got tested for strept throat and mono, plus i'm getting laid off may 20th.

Sorry to hear about the job situation.

But hey at least you didn't wire only half of your speakers (brand new M60s downgraded to M30s) and tell everyone how great they sound.

Geeezzz, for a second there I was going to reply that that was just too mean, beating up on a guy like that. Then I realized it was you that posted it. Good on ya'.
And Ravi, if you really do need to build a shelf, Markjohnson posted a great pic of the shelf that he built (I think it may have been included in the mother of all posts) for his center channel.
I may actually steal some of his design, as I am getting ready to have a local furniture maker help design and build a new rack for my A/V stuff.
Sorry 'bout the job. But think of all of the free time you will have to listen to your gear, or take up skeet shooting with those Dual Discs!

First Ya gotta get better(seems like it's been weeks, dosen't it)then Ya gotta find work, then on top of it all you have a saggy TV! Well, bad luck comes in threes, so it'll all get better now!

My center, an inverted M3, is quite a bit lighter than your center, so it dosen't seem to be bothering the top of my 65 Mits,(Yet)but the top piece of the set is a whopping 3/4 thick piece of MDF nearly a foot deep and darn near seems to sag under its' own weight! But I'm keeping an eye on it so that it dosen't develope an additional droop due to the speaker as well.

So anyway:

i think i'll just leave it there. it doesn't seem to be haivng that negative of an effect. if i biuld a shelf and the speaker falls onto the TV that would be more damaging, in my opinion.
