What pre-amp or type of pre-amp do you recommend for the new amplifier? Do you see its primary use in a high-end A/V system? -- Howard

Hello Howard,

I'm sure the new Axiom amp will find a home in lots of high-end AV systems, but it's equally impressive when used with affordable preamps like the Outlaw Audio 990 or 970 AV pre-amps, both of which we use here at Axiom and which sell for less than $1,000. If your budget is not restricted, you may also want to consider some of the high-end AV preamps from Anthem and Lexicon, which offer some features that you might find desirable.

The A-1400-8 amp also suits anyone who simply wants massive amounts of power output for stereo or multichannel listening, where the listener never need worry about amplifier clipping. The virtue of the Axiom amp is that all of its available power is re-focused to however many channels you have connected, so you aren't "wasting" its output capability as would be the case in other amps where various channels lie idle if only two or so are being used.

The Axiom amp also makes sense for owners of AV receivers that typically claim 100 watts per channel or more but in reality only deliver that power to one or two channels (and much less to the

other
channels). Such owners may want to upgrade to five or seven channels of authentic output with all channels driven, in which case they could easily use their AV receiver as an AV preamp, allowing the Axiom amp to handle all the amplification chores.

Kind regards,

Alan
