new set up

i need to finish around the screen, add a sub and surrounds.
also waiting for an amp and pre/pro.
and some finishing touches to the room.
not sure what i want for surrounds, a pr of qs8's, or in walls...
any suggestions
the room is 11'6" x 18'

I was wondering how QS8s mounted to the ceiling would do in this particular setup, with the wall side of the speakers against the ceiling, spaced about midway between side walls and projector, so that sound would reflect off of the wall down into listener's ears.

QS8's all the way you are sitting pretty tight to the side so the more dispersion the better, IMO.

do you think 2 would work best on the side walls, 4 might be "overkill" ...

2 would be enough unless you are looking to add another row of seats.

i can get a great deal on a sunfire hrs12 subwoofer, any thoughts about it

btw i sit in either of the 2 centre seats, is this considered tight, i agree with you that it would be tight to the back wall.
i'm not concerned about sound performance from the 2 outside chairs...

there are french doors leading into the room to the right of the screen, not in any of the pics. that door is a pocket door i had the builder put in, it connects to bedroom 3's bathroom, allows me quick access to where an amp rack will reside...
