Went to connect one of our new office laptops to a large flatscreen in one of the meeting rooms. The geniuses in engineering' who originally bought and set up the display, insist on hdmi in (its the best don't you know). Since the new laptops only have display port, I plug in via display port to hdmi converter.

The result is an instant forced downgrade to 640x480 with no other resolution options because of an f'ed up hdcp handshake.

The solution. Dig out my trusty long vga cable. Works every time.
