DVE HD Basics…. http://www.cepro.com/article/hd_guru_joe...e_ultimate_h/K3

If you just bought the HD/DVE, like myself, they are supposedly offering an upgrade for the new disks.

DVE: HD Basics includes a tri-color filter for use with the included test patterns, and will retail for $29.95. For a limited time, registered owners of the HD DVD of DVE will be offered a special upgrade price on DVE HD Basics. Due, in part, to the advanced menu features, HD Basics does not contain a standard definition side. For more upgrade and pricing information, consumers may visit: http://www.jkpi.net.

Thanks for the info. Mike, my HD/DVE came with the tri-color filter.
The results I have gotten from DVE were very good even though I haven't gone through all the tests. HD Basics sounds more like my speed as the DVE disc was like reading a Denon manual.

LOL! That's the new standard! I'm going to let Michael "test drive" all my components and accessories from now on.

I just found out that there are many test patterns sort of hidden. On the HD side, if you have 1080P selected, you loose some test patterns. If you select 720P, there are more patterns. They did this to save space.

I just ordered a calibration kit from Calman TV ( i1Pro with i1 Match and Calman software ) so I’m sure I’ll be overwhelmed with test patterns before too much longer.

Mike, be careful. If you have all that test pattern stuff around, you may not have adequate time to read all the receiver owners' manuals.

What did they need to save space for? Do test patterns really take up that much space?
