So i finally got the room rearranged and the QS8s hung and ran the Yammy auto calibration. It came up that i had a wiring issue. WTF? So i checked and rechecked. Everything seemed fine so i checked the manual and it said the error message may occur even if things are hooked up properly. So i watched movies for a few days but it was still bugging me. So long story short, if i hooked up the left wire to red and the right to black, doing it the same way at the other end puts it in the opposite state. So my question is, could i have damaged my speakers or reciever at all by doing that? I figured you wouldnt get sound if they werent hooked up right.

Oh and on a side note i will get pics up today. I ran 'Asteroid Chase' from SW Episode 2 and the QS8s added the echo and feel of actually being in a cavern. Watching the Dave Matthews concert, it was like the QS8s knocked my walls down and transported me to Radio City Music Hall. I've never experianced that before.

No, you won't do any damage by making the connections backwards (out of phase), and you're correct in saying that it wouldn't sound right.

Glad to hear that you're pleased, thrilled even, with your decision.

It is hard to explain to people how much the QS8 adds to the experience. My room is far from ideal, but I had the exact same reaction at first - felt like the walls had been moved far away. Yet, with on-line gaming, I can hear the foot steps of people running behind me and visualize exactly where they are (before I shoot them!). Very impressive to be able to add space and detailed location at the same time.

And ditto the phase issue. You can't hurt the speakers running out of phase, you just don't want to do it unless you are super tech-guy and can figure out that the phase adjustment corrects some timing issue. (Subs are often run out of phase for this reason - a reason i can't explain.)

Even one little wire strand touching the other connection can cause errors, I would recheck. My speaker wire had a red strip along one side, so it was easy to make sure I put the same side on the red/black posts.

My Yamaha RX-V461 would sometimes tell me my speakers were wired wrong. I found it had to do with the subwoofer and setting the manins to large and bass out to both. I didn't realize at the time the sub and mains were canceling each other out, resulting in no bass. It would think the mains were wired wrong, I had to reverse the sub polarity to get bass.

Then I learned it wasn't the best set up and set the mains to small and bass out to subwoofer and everything worked and sounded better.

It's funny actually. Usually I would lose it, but lately things have just been rolling off my shoulders. I'm guessing it has to be because of having my daughter I have had to learn more patience. Its a good thing. I actually pulled all the speaker wires back to each speaker and checked each one. Anyway.

My replacement speaker arrived today and low and behold this box had a HUGE hole in the side ( about 10"x6" ). I was scared at what the speaker would look like inside, but luckily this time everything looks fine. Hopefully nothing inside was rattled lose but so-far-so-good. \:\)

And last but not least here are the pics.

Thanks guys. Unfortunately its an 'illegal' room so it has to be torn out when we sell. Otherwise I was going to paint it all black, but that would take too many coats of primer to get back to an egg shell white. When I was looking to mount my Klipschs in the wall behind the recliner ( pardon the poor cable management) the stud finder was detecting electrical current all throughtout that section of wall. So to ere on the side of safety I didnt screw any holes into that wall. The recliner gets slid out about 3' when watching movies.
