I placed a post a few months ago where i was dead sure i wanted to go with the W22's, for my 28' x 18' gameroom. The room will have a 70" DLP. After much mental debate, i will go with the consensus...I will get the m60's and an EP500 sub.

I will be doing a 7.1 system for half the room. In the second half of the room there will be a pool table and will I place another pair of speakers above the pool table.

1) Regarding the rears, side and pool table speakers, what do you guys recommend for in-ceiling? Would the T2's do the job or is there another brand you guys recommend?

2) I will also be placing a 5.1 system in the family rooom around a 65" plasma. i am not looking for quite as much pop in this room for sound as i am in the gameroom. Would T2's all around do the trick here? Is there an in-wall center channel by axiom or just the W series that is on-wall?

3) Is the only speaker by axiom that is truely in-wall the T2? Is there a T22?

Thanks!

They do have a T80 but I don't see it listed in the store or product pages yet.

Can't comment, for surrounds you really should get Q's.

I wouldn't use a directional, in-ceiling speaker for rears as it will only aim down to the floor.

My personal opinion is that in-ceiling speakers only work when they're mounted in 20 foot + ceilings, as that gives them enough room for dispersion.

I would mount QS-8s to the ceiling!

I am having a hard time having mounted speakers half way in the room pointed towards the sofa...in-ceilings seem so much sleeker.

Sound vs. style....hmmmm

For your pool table area, would you need to listen to those speakers when the TV is playing a movie? Or more for when using the pool table and NOT the HT? If it is the latter, you may want t consider what I am doing for my 'back half' of the great room that has the HT at one side of the 31'L x 23'W room. I am making some inexpensive, but very sturdy mounts that I can just reach up and swivel my back 7.1 speakers 180º for when I want to use 7 ch stereo for music for parties, or just when we are in that part of the room. I'm using 1/@" galv. pipe, screwed into a galv. base plate. Facing forward will be haand tight snug. Unscrew 180º and they are pointed to back half of room. I will paint white to match ceiling. Just a thought if it may be something you want to consider.

Actually, I need to "step away from the computer" to actually cut the pipe, clean, prime and paint the parts, now! I will post some pics of the in-progress steps

My wife and I had this discussion over a period of time. SHe finally surprised me and said if it gives you much better sound for the HT, I'm fine with mid ceiling speakers. I don't want you to wish you had done it differently later on. (ceiling is vaulted) Plus, we both figured that, like most things, after a while we won't even notice them!

Hi Parin,

I have some Boston Acoustics VRS Pro THX Surround in ceiling speakers in my upstairs setup. I don't think they make them anymore as I cannot find them on their site. They really sound pretty good to me. I have them paired with some Paradigm Reference 40's. Maybe Boston Acoustics has something that may work pretty well. Or just mount the QS8's to the ceiling as someone else stated.

I had Klipsch 5000 series in-ceilings as surrounds before moving to the QS8. here. Dramatic improvement with the Qs, but if you need in-ceiling the Klipsch were fine. You can aim the driver and tweeter independently, so it helps get better sound out of them.
