So my Monster HDP 2500 powercenter is not providing any power to my components! I had a little storm today, and apparently the power went out, but surely that didn't fry the unit? The front display lights up fine and looks normal and there is no alarm going off (which according to the manual happens if the unit sacrifices itself). The circuit breaker on the back doesn't seem to have tripped. I mean if my freaking alarm clock can withstand a power outage surely this powercenter can! Is there some secret way to reset the damn thing? Or am I doomed to try to deal with Monster's warranty? I noticed on the thunderstruck thread that no-one has replied about dealing w/ Monster... however my components are fine (and will power up), it's just the unit itself that doesn't work.
Sorry that I only post here when I have a problem.

Try turning off the power centre and unplugging the power centre from the wall outlet. Wait a minute and plug the power centre back into the wall outlet and turn it on and see if you get any power to your equipment.

Nevermind! Apparently unplugging it, and waiting, then replugging it in is the "secret formula!" So now it works. Mods, feel free to delete this useless thread. Oh yes, and axiom speakers rule. they are the only component I've never had a problem with!

Glad that worked! The thread won't get deleted. This forum is basically unmoderated.

Thank your Dr. House. Your diagnosis to my rare and mysterious malady was spot on!

Great. Now he's going to abuse that knowledge. You're not supposed to tell people that until they hit 100 posts!

It's a shame I didn't think of unplugging and replugging earlier (temporary brain-fart). I was about to give my sister a demo of my new Technics turntable. Oh well, I will wait till the morning so I can crank it up to -0!

I'm very glad this worked out for you but just for fun I'll add;
Never underestimate the power of even a "little" lightning storm, if that is what it was.

Just two weeks ago I was in a house where the electrical lines just outside were hit and it pretty much turned the protective breakers to sand, jumnped down to a steel drain pipe for a sump pump below it and blew a hole clean through the steel pipe. (Perhaps it was the real target?) Amazingly, all electrical appliances except for his DSL modem survived, proving you can't predict nature.

That same night, a gentleman at work took a strike somewhere nearby in the grid and although the house or electrical system showed no signs of physical damage like the above example, he lost his TV, stereo, and PC both of which were on two fairly expensive surge protectors.

With all this, what was his greatest resulting fear? He immediately ran to see if his Blackberry got blown up. It wasn't as he forgot to plug in the charger, but judging from his reaction, perhaps it should have been....

I'm not one of those people that live on my PDA, have a Bluetooth earpiece, etc.... but my take is that I might lose some important data on my PDA, but could always replace a component or two...

True, although his, same as mine, is synced to our exchange server in real time so all his email, appointments, contact info, etc would resync with a replacement model. It has limited memory for local storage but mine has an micro SD slot that I generally only use for a few pictures and some MP3s.

In any case, I'm just babbling now.
