hello im fairly new to home theater and im about to buy some new fronts and i want good ones! im getting the M80ti's, but i dont understand why does it have 2reds and 2whites for speaker connections on the back? all the ones i have ever had have just the one set, could someone explain why, and if it would work with my Kenwood VR-510 Receiver, or if i need and special wires or something.
also i should mention i am only 18 and just started getting some stuff, if you would like to know my setup im running right now thats cool. i just started this summer getting things from my part time job and computer work i do.

Those two pairs of posts are for bi-wiring/bi-amping. They are for bypassing the internal crossover and using an external one. One set is for the highs, one for the lows. The advantages are debateable but if you don't want to bi-wire them then you put a jumper between the red posts and one between the black posts and use a regular two wire cable to connect them.

thank you i think i will get them. i found them at a local audio store on sale for 800.00 Canadian!!! they look like they will rock once i get them.

Yes, do tell right away. That price in U.S. Dollars is reason enough to skip the M40,50,60 dilemma I'm having and buy the 80's NOW.

About that special speaker wire,.... you really don't need it. There have been volumes of discussion about it in this forum. If you do a search for "sreaker wire" you will see what I am talking about. If you would like some pretty good info on speaker wire, search for a post I did on 6/10/02 and go to the link in the post (Speaker Wire). I think most in this forum would recommend a good grade 12ga. vs. the $10.00 per foot material.

its a local store that is going out of business..[how sad ] so i get a nice price! i already put down 200 to hold them so i will have them in a day or 2.

i couldnt beleive the price when i seen it. they had them for 1500+tax regular and i thought that was already a nice price.

oh and i cant pick the color...but there black which will match all my others anyways. and they are A-Stock

i also noticed now that the speakers are 4ohms....how can i tell if my receiver can handle that?? btw i have a Kenwood VR-510.

Others here will tell you to ignore the impedance issue, your Kenwood can handle it just fine, but I'm not among them. I'd definately think twice before subjecting your receiver to that load, but again, that's just me. You've got a few options, however: you could always buy the 80s, and sell them (likely at a profit) if they're a poor match for the Kenwood. Or perhaps your super-secret dealer has a pair of M60s to sell you at a cheaper price instead (the 60s nominal impedance is 8 ohms, much less of a potential difficulty with the VR-510. Or you can live with 80s driven by the Kenwood for a time with an eye toward upgrading your receiver to a more robust model in the future (the oppurtunity of buying the 80s at this price will not likely present itself again; strike, while the iron's hot, man!).
