Well I just ordered my Mansfield Beech M60ti's, EP350, VP150, and 2 Qs8's from the factory outlet. Lead time is not bad for the Beechs. I am planning on ordering 2 more Qs8's to complete my 7.1 setup, but had to use some of my money towards a new receiver. I'm heavily leaning towards the Denon 2805, with the Elite 54tx a close second, followed by the Yammy 1400(5790) Just searching for the best deal from a reputible local or online dealer.

Anyway, just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone on this forum that has helped me with my questions. I have been a long time watcher of this forum, and recent poster. Look forward to giving future updates and experiences once my HT is done and everything is in place.

I also want to thank Alan, Joe, and Brent from Axiom for their time on this forum and on the phone, I greatly appreciate their patience and information. If you don't have good Cust. Service you don't have anything, no matter how great your product is......

Thanks again everyone, and Take Off Ehhhhhh

Randy

Update!!! Ok, while patiently waiting for my factory outlet order to arrive, about 3 more weeks...:) I went ahead and picked up a Denon AVR-2805 locally for $727, which I was pretty pleased with the price, although I did have to pay sales tax Man, I'm glad that decision is over.

Thanks again for everyone's input, especially the sales/tech force at Axiom!

One question I have that I'm hoping someone can provide feedback is regarding my surround/rears. I am planning on using 4 Qs8's to make up the LR surrounds and LR rears. The L surround will be the only one attached to a wall, the other three will be hanging from my ceiling. I know some have used the FM Bracket, but I would like them to hang a little lower to allow the top driver to breath a little more. I know you can pivot this bracket, but then the bottom driver will be pointing slightly away from the listening area. I talked to Joe at Axiom about an idea I had, and he said they have a similar setup in one of the testing rooms. I was thinking about hanging a piece of nice oak vertically down from the ceiling, maybe around 15in. or so. It would be cut about the same width of the Qs8's, and then I would attach the Qs8's near the bottom. This backing might help simulate being mounted to a wall and help the sound bounce towards the listening area? Just curious if anyone else has done anything like this. Below is a link to a pic that shows my dilema, I'm just worried with no walls behind me or to the right of me there will be nothing to bounce the sound off?

Pic of my setup.

Thanks again, Randy

hmmm...your link just links back to this same page. Try again?

I don't think my situation is similar to yours (will check once the link to the pic is there). My system is setup in my family room, which is part of a fairly large open space that includes the kitchen. Surrounds are mounted on the back wall and one of the QS8 tweeters fires off in the direction of the kitchen...no problems with the sound for me, although I think I am going to go with the QS stands at some point in the not so distant future.

Interesting, thanks for the note, when you hover your mouse over the link, the address shows correctly in the lower status bar of the browser.

Anyway, here is the link you can copy and paste it into your address field.

Thanks. Didn't notice the address showing in the status bar.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. The QS8's will spread the sound around - floor, ceiling, the wall on the left should all help somewhat. As I mentioned, I have one side surround firing one tweeter towards an open area and the other at the seating position. The tweeters for the other surround has one reflecting off an adjacent wall and the other directed towards the seating position. I don't notice any issues wih the surrounds being either unbalanced (I set their levels with an SPL meter) or sounding different in any way. Certainly your space is probably more challenged than mine, but all the same I think those QS8's are so flexible in their placement that you are unlikely to have an issue.

Now if you don't have a false ceiling like mine, there will be a little more space (about a inch and a bit) because even though my bracket mounts directly above the ceiling tille, the tile is about a inch thick and then there's the whole rail that it sits on, yadda, yadda

They work great for me

thanks Daphoid and Ericb, actually Joe or Brent from Axiom sent me that same pic of the brackets, I was just concerned about the bottom woofer aiming away from the listening area with no walls to bouce off of.....I am using drywall for the surrounds and rears so I would get a little more distance then with a suspended ceiling.....hmmmm I'm going to have to think about this....
