Finaly got them hooked up and calibrated etc.. First impressions are:

1. They are MUCH louder than my old bookshelfs
2. I will have to dial them down about 5db in my preamp setup
3. Having my entire system is now moved 180 degrees in my basement, the sound is more balanced and the soundstage is much wider, but I have lost a bit of punch in the mids and mid bass..I'm guessing that's because the room dimensions are now different where they are now that previous.. much more room on both sides of the mains..

All in all, I really do like my QS8s. In Master and Commander,battle scenes, the surround sounds were really clear and in the scene where you are inside the boat, people walking on the main deck felt like they were literaly just above my head..wow.. I just have to dial them down just a bit.. cause they are loud..and that is after proper calibration via SPL meter.

The way I see it if the QS's are the same SPL as your mains, then they are not loud, you just need to get used to good surround effects

Good to see that you like your QS8s. Since you have your speakers calibrated the same; you may want to watch a few more movies before adjusting levels, Master and Commander has more surround channel than most.

I love the scene you mention. The ability of that sound track and speaker combo to make the sounds appear to come from overhead freaks me out every time.
