Hi everyone I just completed my axiom 5.1 setup with 2 QS8s, 2 M22s, a VP100 center and the EP-175 sub. First I am hoping axiom will let me send back my EP 175 I have owned it for about 3 months to trade up. I am thinking either the EP400 or EP500. I have it all in the corner of my bedroom with the sub in the closet sort of. Is there a hugh difference between the 2 subs? Is the EP500 too much sub for my system? What would U experts get with my current config. I have this setup for both music and movies but felt the EP175 was lacking for music but fine with movies. I finally got all the bugs worked out with my new Oppo Bdp-83 and Sherwood Newcastle R772 AV and think more Bass is needed just need to choose EP400 or 500.

Have you looked into other sub manufactures?

ALso with my configuration what should the crossover be set at? I have it at 80hz for the fronts center and surrounds. Is that correct?

In a bedroom I think the EP400 would be the better choice due to its smaller size which might allow you to try more placement options within the room. The EP400 and EP500 will probably be a big improvement over the EP175.

I am suprised you say the EP175 was lacking for music and fine with movies. I would have thought the opposite.

Ya might be better off selling it out right anyway.

Guy, I'm sure that Axiom can accommodate you on a trade-up. I've been using the EP500 with my M22s for over two years now and the combination is superb for music, including pipe organ. For a lower price, but still a significant step up, you might consider the EP350.

The 500 is a LOT more sub than the 400. I've heard them both. The 500 also has a different sound to it than the 400.

Before you spend money on a new sub, try moving your existing sub out of the closet. Placement has a lot to do with sub response.

I have the 175 and the 500. Obviously, 175 is not even in the same ballpark as the 500. I haven't tried moving the 175 around much, but I wouldn't expect *too* much from the 175. Again, my perspective is skewed because I have the 500 as well.

Given the choice, I would not have gotten the 175. The size limitation (small space to put the sub) forced me to get the 175.
