After having my new equipment sitting in the U.S. for a month, a friend was finally able to bring my Denon 4310 AVR and 2500 blu-ray player.
Couldn't wait so I was up till one in the morning wiring it up and doing a very, very basic setup. (Went better when I stopped looking at the manual) This unit is replacing an old Yamaha 5.1 system. All I can say is WOW. This is at low volume, without any type of balancing or adjustments to the speakers. There is a new level of detail and clarity that I had been missing before. 7 channel surround playing Alan Parson project at low volume was a treat. I hope to complete the setup today and try it out with some volume to see what it can do.

Denon's are indeed a very popular brand of reciever, expecially around these parts. I myself have a 4802, and have enjoyed it for several years. Thats what is so disappointing about this whole switch to HDMI, because now it is basically out dated. I'm planning on perhaps picking up a 3808 soon since everyone on this board has had such good luck with it, but I will definately be keeping this thing around for other duties since it is still a phenominal reciever with outstanding internal amplification.

I actually integrated an outboard amp to handle my M80's since they can suck up 400 watts (not that they NEED 400 watts, but they can handle 400 watts) all on their own, and since doing so I could swear I'm gettin better separation and detail out of the QS8's that the Denon is now powering all by itself. I know it's probably all in my head, but that's where my ears lead! \:\)

Sir Quack
I have had Axiom's from way back but have recently added a couple of the newer models.

Main speakers Axiom M22
Center speaker Axiom AX 1.2
Main surround Axiom QS8
Height surround Axiom AX 2
Subwoofer PSB Century Sub 2 with a Bash 500 watt plate amp from Parts Express

Micah

I have been following your threads about your amp experiences and you have given some very convincing reviews based on your results. I was originally going to get a 3808 as well but was able to get the 4310 on sale from 6th Ave for $1500. I figured if I was going to upgrade I might as well get the latest offerings.
