I'd like to get an opinion from anyone who has purchased a refurb sub. My Velodyne DEQ-15R conked out the other day and I'm looking at a refurb EP600 as a replacement. I have M60's for fronts and Paradigms for a center and surrounds and run everything off a Marantz SR7008. The description says the sub is "good" and Axiom advised that everything is good as new as far as the sound goes. Does anyone have any thoughts?

I have an EP600, one of many subs - Velodynes, SVS 20-39, EP500, EP400, Epik Legend (fail) HSU VTF-2MK4, Kenwood SW300.

The EP600 is a standout! Do you get a warranty?

Welcome iceman - I assume you're talking about the Axiom refurb store? If purchasing from Axiom you should have no worries. Sonically the unit should be the same as a brand new model of the same version/vintage. Your only quibble would be the cosmetics and if there are any blemishes that would bother you. Close your eyes and all is perfect :-)
They have a description of what they consider good vs scratch and dent. If concerned email or call Axiom and they should be able to provide more detail on the cosmetics, but again sonically it would be like new with a 2 year warranty.

I have purchased several refurb speakers - including a sub. I have had no issues, beyond a damaged grille on a QS8. Axiom was quick to replace the grille at no cost to me.

Having dealt with Axiom since 1991, you will be in excellent hands should you choose to purchase the sub - or any product for that matter.

Hi Iceman3500, I just received an EP175 from Axiom's refurb store and it was in what I consider new condition! Seems Axiom does a good job in ensuring their refurbs meet their standards. Refurbs still come with their free delivery and 30 day trial so I see no real risk.

I snagged a matched pair of EP-800s from the Refurb Store a couple of years ago.

They were flawless cosmetically (HG Rosewood) & they have performed perfectly ever since...
