Folks,

I have had a cheap htib, so I haven't had to make these below connections before.

From what I understand, I connect the mains, center and surrounds from the "analog RCA outputs" of the LMC-1 to the "RCA Audio Inputs" of the LPA-1, but I connect the "Subwoofer out" directly to the "Sub-in" of the HSU VTF-2 MK 3.

RCA are the "white, red and yellow"-type cables, right? I know with digital any cable will do, but how much should I spend on these cables? Would these do well?

Thanks a lot,
Rodney

I'm not sure, but I suspect that even those will be too expensive....for some around here to recommend.

Those cables will do fine. And, I'm not familiar with the Emotiva equipment, but, in short, the "outs" on the pre-pro will be connected to the "ins" on the amp...

My cables look thicker than that, I purchased them at Radio Shack, their gold series.

Rodney,

I would just opt for monoprice's premium RCA cables, they are thicker and have fancy gold plated connectors.

Premium RCA 6 ft, the cost difference isn't even that much at all ($2 I think?).

I currently use this cable for my subwoofer, its a "RG6/U 75ohm S/PDIF Subwoofer - 12ft" cable. Its a bit more than those Red White RCA cables, but I think its worth it, Get a cable long enough for your sub that you can put your sub in your listening position, and crawl the floor for the best and cleanest sub response.

So, in short, the Red/White Premium should work to your amps, and the digital coaxial should work for your sub.

Thing I don't like about the premium cables is that their connectors can be really hard to put on and take off of the equipment. I've found this to be the case with several "premium" cables from ye olde standard sources (monoprice, radio shack...)

On the flip side, I would rather have a cable that is REALLY snug to put on and take off, rather than having one that just slips on fearing it may come off later

I've never had (or heard of) an RCA cable fall off. What I have heard of is too tight connectors ripping off the ports on equipment. No thanks...

Those are the ones I just got. Very nice and a third the price of any other site for a similar cable. I also got their premium optical and HDMI cables.

Ken, I have the same issue with my Radio Shack Gold cables from my Denon to my Emotiva amp. It is funny, some of the ends go on snugly, and some it is virtually impossible to push them on or take them off. I have to hold the front of the unit to apply reverse pressure, otherwise the dang receiver slides around.

What the heck is up with that? Like you, I've always been worried that if it is that hard to remove them, the port on the receiver could be damaged. I'm guessing the inside diameter tollerence during manufacturing is a little off somewhere.
