My EP500 V2 subwoofer needs a new amp. Some time ago, the RCA Line-In connector snapped, so I've been using an RCA-XLR converter and using the XLR Line-In. Unfortunately, some unknown havoc occurred that resulted in the cable snapping off (melting?) and now the XLR Line-In no longer works.

So I need to replace or repair the amp. I plan to contact Axiom on Tuesday to see what my options are but I was wondering if the forum users have any suggestions. I believe I read on a past post that Axiom no longer has any EP500 V2 amps for replacement, nor will they fix the amp.

Is this true? Are there any other options, such as repairing it locally? I live in Calgary, AB - any recommendations for a reputable repair shop?

And, yes, I know the easy answer is to upgrade to a new sub smile I may consider that but I'd really like to repair/replace the amp. I already have two EP800 subs in the my theatre, so I don't actually use the EP500 that much. But I don't want to lose it completely.

Thanks in advance,

Bryan

So does the amp still work or is it just the connectors that are not usable?

Can you quickly wire to use the high level function to test the amp? Having connectors replaced may be easier that an repairing the amp circuitry.

The amp still powers on. I assume the amp circuitry and power supply is fine but I don't really know. I didn't think of wiring up the high-level inputs to test. I'll do that today.

I assume I'd need an electronics repair shop to replace the connectors. Would likely involve soldering on a new RCA jack. I don't need the XLR input if the RCA is working as my receiver doesn't output XLR.

Thanks for the suggestion to test.

Anyone know a good repair shop in Calgary?

Bryan
