Hi everyone,

I am thinking of purchasing the M60ti speakers along with EP350 subwoofer. From all the reviews and comments written on this forum they should sound great!

I listen to 100% music, but I have no idea what I need to drive the speakers and sub. Should I be looking a receiver, an amp, a pre-amp... or a combination... I'm just not sure? My budget is around ~$500 (not including sub and speakers). Thank you for your comments.

you would probably have a hard time finding any sort of separates for $500. with that budget, i would look for a good receiver, that has pre/pro capabilities so you could add an amp at a later date if you wanted to.

there are several great receivers in the $500 range that are available. check denon 1804,2803/2804, onkyo 601/701, H/K 135/230, and i think yamaha has a few receivers in that price range.

good luck in your choices. do a little research and find a good receiver in your price range. you can find some great deals, and dont shy away from factory refurbs. i bought one, and so have many others, and they are very reliable units.

Hi KapTq and welcome. bigjohn is right -at $500 you can take the separates off the list. Not a big yhing - they really aren't required.

For your purposes, just about any Yamaha, HK Onkyo, or Denon at that price point would work. Compare the features and pick out what you like.

HK has an online outlet store on their site. Denon refurb equipment can be had at ecost. at great savings (lots of the folks here have gone this route. I am a big fan of Denon and would point you to ecost to look attheir 1083 (same as 3803) at $599 - that's about 1/2 price of a new one (powerful and highly featured). Also look at the 1803, 1804, 2803 on ecost - all very good units at great savings. HINT - if you do ecost, call and be sure they have the unit in stock.

If not ecost, Denon's current 1905 would be excellent for you. You might also find some close out/open box for the 1804 or 2803.

If you're serious about using this setup for only 2 channel music, you can get some very nice separates for not much over your $500 budget. But again, it would be 2 channel only.

Scour Audiogon for a Rotel RB-1050 and RC-1070. That combo, used, can usually be found for about $600.

Another option is getting a nice integrated amp. I just grabbed a Rotel RA-1062 for under $500.

spiffnme, I would like to only have a 2.1 stereo system with the M60ti + EP350. I think the Rotel RB-1050 and RC-1070 would still be within budget. However, can I also use the subwoofter, because I'm not sure where to connect it.
