As I mentioned in another thread, I am remodeling the PorterPlex. Because of this, my side surrounds will be moving forward about 5-6ft. I'm still going back and forth on using the T-bracket furnished, or getting some wall brackets from Axiom.....what to do...

Anyway, on my right surround I built a new wall and just ran the new wiring to the new location, no problem. But, on the left surround it is on our poured foundation which is ice block (foam/concrete/foam).

Right now I"m considering just getting about 5-6 feet of Axiom flat wire and included termanal blocks to go from my existing wiring coming out of the ceiling to the new location. Just going from wire to terminal block to flat wire to terminal block to wire to speaker terminal seems like a lot of jumps. I know it won't be audible, but do I need sealant/tinning to protect the copper exposed. I see where Axiom mentions you can use clear fingernail polish on the product page. Then I could just paint over the flat wire. Will there be enough room if I get the T-brackets to do all this behind the speaker?

Hi,
The Axiom "T" bracket allows a flush wall mounting of the QS surround speaker; it provides a minimal space between the back of the speaker and the wall. You will need to create a cavity in the wall behind the speaker to host the terminal block.

Yeah, there is just barely enough room behind the QS8 on the T-Bracket for 1 set of bare wire connections.

I guess I will have to get the full metal bracket then, unless other people have had luck with omnimounts or other mounts? The problem is usually the standard thread used does not work with Axiom's insert so you have to get an adapter.

Or just make something to give the speaker some "stand-off" distance from the wall.

Just want a clean look, and with the ice block foundation you don't have studs, but you do have plastic grids every 12", will have to think on this one, I"m not digging a cavity, that is for sure.

Last night I ordered 2 full metal brackets for my side surrounds and 9ft of flat wire from axiom. I will used the standard T brackets for the rears. My right wall I added is angled and gets wider from back to front, so I will need to be able to turn/tilt the right surround to aim it across the room correctly. I have to use the flat wire for my left surround and since I will be using a terminal block to terminate to standard wire for the speaker hookup, there will be no room to use the T bracket..

Excellent, you have a room that doesn't have a fixed width? That can really help with standing waves, sort of like the VP series of speakers.

Actually, I didn't think of that. My room know has the shape of the Center channel speakers exactly.

Does anyone know that has used the flat wire from axiom if it can be crossed over 90deg on itself to make a right turn? There is a website that shows the same brand of wire, but 18 AWG, where the guy doubled up on itself, but this is 12 AWG.
