My EP500 (V2 I believe) was moved, which sheered off the subwoofer cable, leaving the male end stuck in the port. I cannot remove it, without opening up the back panel. The screws are of a type I do not have the tools for. Is this a standard type I can purchase a toolset for, or do I need to return the panel back to the factory for service?

I would call Axiom. Sorry about your misfortune.

Welcome to the forum, BTW.

JR,welcome; we've been waiting to hear from you. If you have the EP500 like mine which also has a line out port, there's no serious problem. The line out and line in form an internal "Y" arrangement and the "out" can be used just as well as an "in". So, simply plug a new sub cable into the line out.

That's a much better idea than what I was thinking -- I was going to suggest gently twisting a wood screw into what was left of the RCA phono plug and using that to pull the center core out.

Using the line in jack takes the time pressure off and greatly increases the chances of finding an easy way to get the plug out smile

Thanks, Nick. That was EXACTLY my first thought when I read the topic line. Then again, in some parts of the world, it's a euphemism for "internationally trafficked sex slave."

Just kidding newbie. Hope you have your solution. Welcome to the Forums.

What John said, if it is one of the older amps like my older ep500 and ep600 v2 either one of the in/out rca connections will work, just used the other one.

Hopefully the puppy problem will be easier. You can't stop a puppy from doing anything, but you might be able to find something that he likes chewing on more than your cables. Thin rawhide rolls are pretty good (especially if you soak them in hot water first) but IIRC you need to take them away from him before he chews them enough to break off choking-size pieces.

We tried a thin film of hot sauce to discourage chewing but the stains were worse than the chewing. We were smart enough to let the hot sauce dry before putting it near floor/carpet but we forgot that chewing makes the cable wet again.
