I have the occasional need for a smaller and non-ported decent speaker. For instance I have two sets of surrounds actually in in a bookcase. And I wanted to get my son a stereo system for his dorm. (The computer speakers weren't available then. Plus, given a choice, I'd rather not have the amplification built into the speaker; I'd rather use something like the Audioengine N22.)

As it is, NHT and Boston Acoustics makes some that I'm eying up; But I'd rather buy Axiom given a choice.

So, back to to the topic - is there any talk of stripping out the amplifier and selling a passive M1?

(Oh, and for what it's worth, my son decided to use the N22 and bring his M3s up to school. I thought they were too big, but he was happy. But if the M1 was available, I would have purchased them.)

M2's?

Half of communication is listening. You can't listen with your mouth.

Well, I would have purchased the M2 for my son if he hadn't said he was okay with the M3s, but I still think they're too big for a dorm room.

But most importantly (now), they're rear ported, and I need sealed or front ported.

If you need to plug the port, then put a sock inside it. I have LFR1100 that have multiple ports on the back. They for some reason sell the M100 speakers with port plugs but the LFR1100'a without.

I found that plugging one of the ports on the back of the speaker helped it sound better for my room. I used white socks as I didn't want to colour the sound of the speakers. But I have heard that black socks offer a bit more deadening.

Anthem: AVM60, Fosi DAC-Q5
Axiom: ADA1500, LFR1100 Actiive, QS8, EP500, M3, M3comp, M5

I thought that plugging a speaker that wasn't designed to be plugged would negatively affect the sound. But heck, now that you mention it I'll try it with my M22s and see what happens.

Regardless, that's hysterical! And I'm letting you know now that I'm stealing it.
