/. has a post about how 80 odd % of ipod owners do not buy from iTunes. However the comments section quickly turns into a flame war about DRM effecting the quality of files that are DRM'd.

Thought I'd share...

I saw that. But the curious thing is that's is from a British site. The Jupiter data could be from EU iPod users. And there are several countries in the EU that don't have iTunes store access.

Frankly, I still think for most users iTunes is the better way if you have an iPod. No fuss, no muss. I never would've thought Apple would made so much money selling songs for $1.99 but Steve Jobs is a marketing genius...at least IMHO.

Amen!

I'm not a big fan of ipod or apple... I have a Sansa and I think it kills nano in every way I can think of. Now with Zune comming out I'm interested to see how well it does. Sure sounds like a cool device.

As far as DRM effecting sound quality, I can't see how it could. If the file is being streamed perhaps you could have packet loss which could make the song studder but not very likely with a good connection and a modern PC.
