Since many people have been having trouble searching this fine forum, I spent the last 24 hours -- pretty much non-stop -- creating a search engine that shouldn't disappoint.

Ok, so I didn't spend 24 hours on this. Not even one. Heck, it took less than 1/12th of an hour to do this. But that doesn't mean it's any less cool or useful.

Just bookmark the search site and stick it on your bookmarks bar for rapid access.

Geez Peter, hogging all the glory eh?

"Sorry, this search engine does not accept volunteers.

I'm learning this google stuff as I go along, Chess. Volunteering is now enabled. Anyone willing to improve the search can now apply. I'm not sure what volunteering entails, so do it at your own risk. ;\)

Actually, locking it out might be the best way to keep some jokers from having the search function go through an adult site looking for terms such as "port holes".

Are you forgetting who has control of it?

That's hilarious, great point. I'm glad I wasn't taking a sip of my drink.

pmbuko,

Yes, thank you.

I used your "search engine" to locate one of my all-time favourite Axiom threads (with fcapio) and found another great quote to go with:

"All your base are belong to us".

fcapio: "I am impressed with the high number of your postings"
Posted By: St_PatGuy Re: Custom Axiom Forum Search - 11/21/07 05:52 AM
I don't remember that thread, but the quotes are hilarious! \:D

Well, if I give you good beer, can you dispense with the bats?

I did a search for "multiple subwoofers" and it came back with no hits?
Posted By: pmbuko Re: Custom Axiom Forum Search - 01/18/09 05:10 AM
try "multiple subs"
Posted By: SirQuack Re: Custom Axiom Forum Search - 01/18/09 04:51 PM
so your saying there is not one post through the years that has multiple and subwoofers in the subject and/or body of the post? Maybe I'm searching wrong but I would assume it would be the same as regular Google?
Posted By: myrison Re: Custom Axiom Forum Search - 01/20/09 02:41 AM
I've noticed the Google search seems to be a bit less reliable lately too and have actually started using the Axiom forum search more. \:o I'm not certain, but it appears that Google isn't archiving as much older data as it used to (on the Axiom site, not in general).

Maybe the Data Collection Algorithm Software came to the conclusion that most of our posts are the equivalent of a "hand cupped under the armpit fart noise" ?

If you lay on your back, cup your hands under your knees, and then move your legs up and down like you're riding a bike, you can get twice the fart noises.

I was wondering when someone might notice that. \:\)

As most of you know, the search features since we went to this new version of UBB have not been so nice. It limits you to a 12month range, which is not easy to use if your looking for something older. Also, it doesn't always give you results it should when searching the subject line, even though there are in fact threads with that text.

Anyway, I found out that if you blank out the date range options and don't enter anything, it will allow you to search for all posts again. I'm sure the DB Admins don't like this, sorry.. \:\)

I think it should be mandatory that all newbies read the entire contents of the forum like I did! \:\)

I agree, but with so much to read it's still a work in progress.

Great job on the start up search.
