Audioholics has a new Axiom Factory tour article up, revealing a few new toys at the factory and some new toys to leave the factory.

http://www.audioholics.com/news/on-location-articles/axiom-audio

I particularly like the enviromental test chamber, How many speaker companies have THAT?! I wonder how often the guys setup some chairs in there and set it for "sunny Kona hawaii" \:\)

And then there's the EP800. This will be an intersting product, My biggest, and only real valid complaint of the EP600 is the port chuffing at high SPL and low frequency and i have no doubt this has been all but eliminated.

Thanks for the link. I'm certainly looking forward to the EP800, too. I don't know when exactly I'll be ready to go multiple-sub, but here's hoping it makes it out in time to be considered.
Homina homina homina.
That's flat and low! \:\)
Nice article!

Maybe the 5.1 system would be a nice gift for my Dad! The EP800 would only work if I modded it as a coffee table! Hmmmm...
ok, where is the pricing and release date for the new sub?!?
Two things. The article reinforces the engineering and design prowess of Axiom. Second, you got to figure that the EP800 will be one of the most musical (and at the same time high impact) subs in the $2-5K price range ever. I have a feeling it will become a legendary product that will bring over owners/buyers of "audiophile" mains that sell for $3K+ (B+W 800 series), Dali, Sonus Faber, Focal, etc. Maybe one of those customers will "throw in" a pair of M80s for their bedroom system! OK, I'll let Axiom worry about its sales forecast; I'm just really excited about this product and will tell Brent today that I'd like to be one of the first owners!!
Thanks for the link Haoleb.
The Mini system's brackets are genius! Also, I can't wait to hear an EP800.
I would love to be get my hands on one of the first ep800's to roll off the line!

I highly doubt I can swing that past my financial advisor (girlfriend) after my weber summit purchase...

Does the ep800 come with a complimentary diamond ring by chance?
I haven't made an AV purchase in a while, this may be my next choice. I just bought a furniture dolly for our new frig. when it arrives, so now I know I can get even the EP800 upstairs. \:\)

Don't you mean $1-2K?
Drool.
Don't you wish, Charles...
I agree. Those brackets are very ingenious!

It will be interesting to see where the EP800 is priced.

SVS and HSU have set the bar for price/performance. As an ID company, I would think that Axiom is as much or more in competition with them than with folks like JL Audio.

Its nice to see Axiom up its game.
The PB13-Ultra was $1900 to my door so I would like to think the EP800 would be pretty much the same. The EP600, I see for ~$1400 and the EP500 for ~$1000 preferably under, as the Paradigm DSP3400 is only $899. Drop the other lines and the EP350 could be a $600 sub, now that would awesome. The EP400 is just such a different beast with it's sealed design and small size that $800 would be a very good price point as it, IMO, is strictly a music sub. But these are just my rants as I see Axioms products in the world of Subwoofer pricing.
Yeah, just think about how much money they are saving on materials by cutting the 2nd big 12" hole in the cabinet
Yes, but no ports! Not that much material saved.
Since I have an extra 12" axiom driver laying around maybe I'll ask what this beast will cost with only 1 driver \:\)
Better yet, can they send me a kit to cut a circle around my current port hole in the 600 and drop in the new driver and amp? \:\)
I think they need to send me a whole sub.

Then, I'll proclaim that my room Sucketh No More and pronounce the 800 the Holy Grail of subs. Then, they'll sell lots.

All will be Happy in the Land of Sucky Rooms, and we all will Live Happily Ever After.
No it won't.
Mark, wake up, WAKE UP!, you're having another one of those dreams again, where you think you will actually make your room sound good.

I'm hoping you're not too far off the mark. It's the perfect opportunity to change the pricing. There are already some compelling reasons to get Axiom subs, but generally speaking, I wouldn't call them the best deal. Here's hoping they can pull off competitive pricing.

I said $2-5K because 1) the additional driver will take the price up a few hundred dollars -- hey, since I'm going to be buying one, I hope I'm wrong about that, and 2) I think the product is going to be such a winner in that it will easily compete with products in this price range.
>>I think they need to send me a whole sub.

Nah, they just need to send you the drivers, the amp board, and a paper template showing where to cut two round holes and in your wall.

>>Then, I'll proclaim that my room Sucketh No More

You need to think of it less as a room and more as a very large subwoofer. Face it, your room is about the same shape as an EP500.

There is a thread on the Audioholics site discussing the EP800 in which the author the article if I'm not mistaken Gene DelaSalla states that when he visited the Axiom factory he believes they were discussing a retail cost of $2400 for the ep800.
\:D
There was an old man,
Who lived in a subwoofer.
I saw that post too. Alas, I am not part of their target for this sub. I'm not too surprised though.

I am surprised that nobody from Axiom is here touting the wonders of their new products and teasing us with specs and eye candy. A most unusual launch methinks.

Hmmm. At that price, I'd probably have to consider two Hsu ULS-15s. I'm still waiting to hear more opinions on those. I would probably put the EP800 in the running if there was a significant savings for member's club preorders, and I'd probably trade up from my EP600. I know I want to go at least dual-sub. With the EP800, that's ALL I'd be able to do. For a long time, anyway. It would be much easier to go quad-sub with Hsu. Anyway, the final price hasn't been stated, so I'll keep my fingers crossed. \:D
They've added a ton of stuff since i was last there.
I think before i choose the next surround speaker finish i may plan another Axiom and spa weekend excursion.
Let's see how these markets fare in the coming months. Time to stock up on cheap financial equities...well Cdn ones anyway.
I don't think this is OT as it pertains to the 800... though I'm straying a bit.

Would a dual-woofer sub such as the 800 help to smooth nulls and peaks in a room such as mine?

There's a pert of me that says "no" because the drivers' proximity difference is minuscule in comparison the the wavelengths produced.

But others frequently find that moving a sub just a little bit makes a big difference? Maybe two drivers 24" apart would make a big difference?

Again, I think Axiom should send an 800 to me for testing. After I mod it into a coffee table, they won't want it back anyway! \:\)
Mark, I really think (at least) two subs in different locations would benefit your room more.

Would that be... your right or left nipple?
Middle.
I think it's cute how Mark always tries to derive "hope" for his suckitudinous room.
(pssssst.... Mark is really only trying to derive a new subwoofer) ;\)
you have over 6000 posts to go. Get crackin'.
O
K
!
Hmmm. I thought about that one. I think I'm good with only one porthole.
