Yes they do. My Masters is in Rural Sociology and one thing you quickly notice in that discipline is that the vast majority of “social science research” targets university students and urban dwellers, rural areas are an afterthought, curiosity or aberration to most “social scientists.”

P.S. As a recovering “social scientist” I suggest taking anything you read about something published in a “social science” journal with a great big grain of salt.

I really liked studying sociology, very interesting stuff IMO, especially when you get past the intro level stuff. I still study it for fun. Right now I’m on an elite theories of governance kick.

I'm a Social Libertarian... the state should be sure that my mess has roads to drive on and that none are left behind and after that, butt out of the lives of my mess and its family.
