You can't really blame them... as long as people are foolish enough to pay that kind of cash they are going to keep making them.

However, I don't understand why they won't make an 'entry' level BR player with a modest price tag like they do with the 'lower end' receivers that they carry.

I thought other sites were saying it had a $5,800 price tag (Blu-ray.com and whatever other site I saw it on), not $3,800. Either way, it's way too expensive for what it does. I mean, how do they justify THAT much of a gap in price, especially when it's not going to have BD-Live functionality at first (supposedly being enabled in a later update).

Ahh, Blu-ray.com lists the $5,800 model as DVD-A1UD while the linked article says DVD-A1UCDI. I wonder if they are indeed two new players.
