Ok I hate to post this but I seem to have lost the “So what are you listening to tonight thread.” Even my username search and searching for things I’ve posted turns up nothing. Figured I better make sure I’m not having a stoner moment before starting a new one.

You're not seeing it in the 'Stereo' forum Grunt? I just looked a second ago and it was there.

3rd one down, at the moment.

What we have lost is the beer thread. \:\(

That looks like “So who did ya see in concert last night?” thread. We use to have a “So what are you listening to tonight” or something to that effect thread. I know I’ve had 5 concussions but not one recently. I also know I posted about Rodrigo Y Gabriella in it and a search for “Rodrigo” only turns up CVs thread.

Do you see it here...

'What are you listening...'

Third thread from the top?

It is in the stereo forum.

And how in the hell did you ever get 5 concussions anyway?
Posted By: jakewash Re: Listening to thread gone walkies? - 12/12/08 11:42 PM
I've had 3 or 4, not sure can't remember \:D

Sheesh, no wonder y'all can endure that freezing weather up there Jay ... I bet you probably don't even realize it's happening.

That was the most bizarre thing. Your link worked fine but when I went back to the other browser window it wasn’t there. I shut down and restarted IE and viola it’s back and the search function found my posts in it. Also noticed after the second username search that a bunch more of my threads appeared based on the number of pages it pulled up the second time. Very strange.

Thanks,
Dean

Short answer is Adrenaline Junkie, however in order they were:

#1 fell out of a tree. (ok I was 6 and wanted to see how long I could hang upside down by my knees. Not sure cause I passed out)
#2 football.
#3 bicycle accident.
#4 bad motorcycle accident.
#5 snowboarding (miffed the takeoff and hit my head on the ramp) this was the only one that didn’t knock me out but it was still the worst. The next day the doc said I better stop it because the symptoms I described to him were signs of “serious brain damage” but nothing seemed wrong by the next day when he checked me out.

Funny thing is I played rugby #2 (hooker) for 6 of the 8 years I was in the Marine Corps and never got worse than a broken collar bone, go figure.

That’s my story and I’m sticking with it. Besides it easy to blame Microsoft products. ;\)

How’d you get yours? May be we should start a “How many concussions have you had and how did you get them thread.” Could be interesting.

Unfortunately all of my senses are still intact and I can tell it is snowing and getting colder by the minute. \:\(

First concussion, basketball, slipped after making a basket and went face first into the brick wall, lost half a tooth and a broken nose(3rd time) as well.

2nd concussion - Rugby, one of the forwards came down the line just as I was knocked down from a line and his knee caught me in the temple.

3rd concussion football, and number 4 was just last January, I had pneumonia(which I didn't realize till after the trip to the hospital) and was at work, I passed out and went more or less face first into the concrete floor. Took 4 stitches above right eye. I am now about 4 weeks concussion symptom free. \:\)

First and only concussion: Mountain biking for the first time, summer after freshman year of high school (I was 15). I went down a hill and didn't use my breaks enough or lower my seat. It was fun until I hit the rut at the bottom. Front tire went perpendicular and my head, and collarbone hit the handlebars. Fortunately, the bike helmet and collarbone took the brunt of the damage.

My friend said I was totally out of it and couldn't remember where I was. We were only a couple miles from my house, so he had me follow him and we walked the bikes back.

I’ve noticed more players are wearing rugby helmets these days. Our scrum half in the Accra RFC quit playing in Scotland and moved to Africa to farm chickens because his doc told him that another concussion and he’d be lucky if he could sit up and drool on himself. He still couldn’t give up playing.

My bicycle accident wasn’t so cool as yours.

I was racing a friend home from work and came upon an area with broken glass. While looking down I noticed a pole coming up to one side. Thinking it was a speed limit sign I veered over some to miss it. Turned out to be a huge “Do Not Enter” sign and I split the difference between the poles holding it up. When I came to the bike was a good 100 feet down the road and I was covered in blood. First and only ever nosebleed and had a headache for a week.

I had a mtn bike accident similar to yours Peter, only I manged to have my head avoid the bike, but the rib cage did not. I had to walk the bike back to my house about 2 miles. I didn't even realize I had broken ribs till I went to see the doctor a few days later due to a burning sensation in my ribs and a clicking noise every time I took a deep breath. The accident happened on a Friday and I went camping in a tent that weekend, followed by a trip to the doctor on the Monday. My wife said I snored the absolute worst I have ever done during that weekend and the subsequent camping trip the following weekend.

Dean , I have also noticed more players wear a little padding as well as the helmets these days.

I've never had a concussion but I noodle a lot.

One of the prominent ways this can manifest itself is by being an audiophile of any level and believing (falsely) that you're posting in forums with audiophile topics...

But do you actually catch and catfish? I work with an Okie who loves to show off his noodling video.

I hadn’t noticed the padding, I’ll start keeping an eye out for it. What’s next…the forward pass?

All of my concussions were pre-grade seven:

Vase dropped from a second story.

Riding my tricycle down a sloped driveway while my brother tried to slam the garage door just behind me. He missed.

Recreating something from TV, clubbed with a really thick icicle.

Hit in the face with a volleyball smashing my head into a brick wall (I wasn't very popular).

I've never suffered concussion, but I have met Regina Spektor.

Best bike accident story... riding to the park with a friend when I was about 23 or so, I just looked over and asked him to check his speedo to see what we were doing for speed. He says 34 km/h (21.13 MPH) and as I look up, a smallish dog is running across the street in front of me...

Anyone that rides, races or has watched Days of Thunder knows the one truth is "aim for it, it won't be there when you get there"... I would just like to add to that that there is the possibility that it will go past you, get scared, and turn back in front of you.

Luckily it was a new bike and I hadn't put on my clipless pedals yet. As I hit the dog, my front wheel stopped dead, turning my forward momentum into rotational force around the front hub and launching me over the bars. I remember hitting the pavement on my hands, elbows and knees and being amazed at how far my magnetic sunglasses were flyi... OH MY GOD... EVERYTHING HURTS.

So I get up, turn to my buddy and ask his opinion on how bad off I am, showing him my arms... he dry-heaved. Great, thanks for the support. Ended up getting him to put my bike into 8th and rode myself the 4km home without using my hands.

That sucked, still better than being t-boned by a car speeding out of a McDonald's drive-thru when I was 14.

Yes, we both died... like the Sixth Sense, I'm really a ghost?

Nah, the dog was fine... I had to track down its owners since it took off after the accident.
