Certainly a step in the right direction by Monster Cable. But, you'll forgive me for remaining skeptical. Lee's statement that "...this is a landmark kind of situation, public opinion wins over what is the right thing to do for trademark protection of a famous mark " doe NOT leave me with much confidence that Monster Cable has learned it's lesson and will refrain, in the future, from bullying anyone who dares use the word monster in it's name.

I think Monster lost many sales due to this as the Information highway did it's thing. We can only hope they learned a small lesson, most likely to keep the lawsuits under a gag order.

I doubt they have learned the right lesson.

There is more here than meets the eye. Monster Cable paid Monster Minigolf's legal fees.

I wonder if there was some indication in the court proceedings that the golf folks were going to win leaving them open to sue for dammages on top of legal fees?

We will most likely never know. I think MC was looking at sales dropping and all the bad press so they gave in and to try to show some decency, offered to pay all the legal fees.

Nice, blame the attorneys. Because attorneys go out and file suits and then ask the plaintiff if they agree - RIGHT. What BS. Mr. Monster's letter blames the attorneys, then says "of course, we are right and should win, which is why I sued you”. Call me jaded, but I'm guessing Mr. Monster found out he would lose and that fact would be reported across the web as proof of their bad motive. So he stepped in to get the attorneys to move out the way so he could “clear it up”. What BS. Paying the defendant's attorney's fees shows the Monster suit was weak, and likely to lose.

More likely the other way around. His attorneys, or the judge said you don't want to go any further.

Yes, I meant to put "move out the way" in quotes. No doubt he got the word from the troops on the ground and then jinned up this "oh, we can clear this up over coffee" letter.
