My daughter is one of the "finalists" for a local National Anthem singing contest and I could use as many votes to make sure that she not only is in the top 11 (who all get to sing at our state fair) but that she gets the top number of votes so that she gets to sing at the opening ceremonies.

Please help her out...

You will need to register at the site (our local newspaper), confirm your registration via email, sign in, find her page (the link below SHOULD take you to her, select "Vote" and then "Save Vote"... You can vote more than onces (I think 5 times) per day per registered account.

Thanks everyone!

Oh, her name is Allison Buol just so you know that you are on the right page.

VOTE FOR ALLISON! YEAH!
I took the time to listen to at least the beginning of each candidate's entry, since I couldn't vote in good conscience for someone who I didn't think was among the best. Some of the entries I couldn't listen to more than two seconds of, but your daughter is definitely one of the best.

Good luck to her!

EDIT: The site is asking for my phone number (required field) when registering, so I opted not to do it.
Wait until the politicians realize the awsome voting power of Axiom Audio Forums!
She's a good singer!
Thanks for those that already voted. You get 5 votes a day for the next 2 weeks. If we can get as many people that are voting for Wheelz's caretaker, we'll have this contest sewn up in no time!
Voted!
Sweet. Thanks! Don't forget to vote 5 times tomorrow too! :-)

Certainly you have some “friends” who like to give out their number. ;\) A type-O???

Voted x 5.
I don't think that they verify phone numbers at all. I would put in something bogus...
Got my 5 votes in today. \:\)
Ok, I put in a bogus number and submitted my 5 votes.
AAAAHHHHHH!!!!

Why did all of you choose to put in MY number!!!???!!??

AAAAHHHHHH!!!!

I didn't think anyone else would think of that, Mark.

She sounded great. I like that she didn't go all "American Idol" on it(stretching and wavering all the extended notes) even though she sounds like she would be capable of it. Shows talent and respect for your anthem.

Voted.
Thanks guys! We are building quite a lead. Hopefully we can keep it up for the rest of the voting period!

She sounds amazing - my votes are in!

BTW, I have been anonymously voting on the other thread since day one as well! \:D
My daily 5 votes are in!
Apparently it's not 5 votes a "day" but 5 votes in a given 24-hour period. I just tried but I'm still unable to because I voted last night.
Actually, it should be every day. I know some people voted around 10PM last night, and then again before 8:00 AM this morning. I also know other people that voted around 5:00 PM yesterday and then again just after midnight...

Maybe it is a time/zone thing. The local time zone is central time, but who knows what craziness they have going on.
I think I must have voted after midnight then. Oops.
Holy crap, the 2nd place guy just got more than 200 additional votes some time in the last 2 hours! Yikes... Keep voting...
Very good indeed! Nice pitch and vibrato control.

+1 vote

Don't you turn into a Gremlin when you vote after midnight? Or do you turn into a pumpkin?

Bren R.
A Grumpkin.

Isn't that what Ray and Jack are?

Bren R.
Hmmm.... I am starting to think that the #2 guy is like a gremlin and water. Somehow, he miraculously got ad additional 500 votes in less than 3 hours. That is after only getting 140 votes in the first 36 hours... Maybe it is those people from Puerto Rico that are on the modeling vote site for Wheelz's caregiver that are voting for him...

Well at 5 votes a shot, that's only 50 people. I sense facebook at work here. Can't be the AVS web board, they could never come to agreement and votes would be scattered everywhere. Probably compiling eventually up for the person who used the most expensive microphone.
5 votes from me too! Good luck Allison!
Just took her up to 960.
Actually, let's just back to math class...
just teasing Murph :-P

500 new votes divided by 5 votes a piece, is 100 new voters. I am just saying that it odd that he went from 28 total voters the first day and a half to having 100 brand new ones just within a couple of hours (128 voters total).

Someone else went from just under 40 votes at the end of day 2 to over 600 votes by this morning (a few hours later)... It is just frustrating to have spent so much time emailing, calling, posting, talking to, networking with every possible person I know to get legitimate votes (I know it is a lot of them) to have what looks like someone creating massive accounts with "made up" email addresses. <end rant>
If I were going to vote for a second person (I'm not), it would be Johnny Hawkins.
Nick,

If only these things were won on talent alone. Like many things in life, if you don't stack the deck, your chances of winning are significantly less. If your daughter doesn't win, it's because someone else had a bigger voting army (legitimate or not) than you were able to amass.
Posted By: Murph Re: Another "vote" thread. Please help me out! - 07/24/09 02:41 PM
Sorry, that was a typo not a math error. I originally put in an equation but thought looked it condescending so I highlighted and typed over and that's somehow what I ended up with. A mistake is mistake, in any case. I was rushing and thinking more about abusing the AVS and not watching what I was doing.
We thought you were taking the different time zones into account.
Yeah, I have access to unlimited email accounts, and thus unlimited registered (but fake) users for the voting site, but I hate to feel pressured into doing something like that just because I fear that someone else is doing it.

We'll see what happens. If everyone just keeps things legit, it will be a good contest, but I fear that some people will do anything to win. Heck, I was trying to do everything I could to get real voters, so if others didn't have that mass number, I am sure that they looked at other options, and the only other thing that they could do would be set up bogus ones.

I guess it is just human nature to want to win, and I am fine with that.

Very true; it's like judging a quadriplegic on their walking skills.
The good news is that the other entrants that are closest to your daughter are also talented, so at least it looks like you won't be beaten out by an unskilled singer with a large fan club.
Keep up the votes guys. It is greatly appreciated!
Voting daily.
Thanks everyone. It keeps flip-flopping between her and Johnny for the lead, so every vote DOES count!
Voted again, how do you check to see the amount of votes for each contestant?
My link takes you right to her page, but if you click on the "tab" underneath the "Oh Say Can You Sing" logo at the top that says "Vote" (which is actually the one that you are already on) it will take you to all of the entries... But don't vote for them, just Allison! \:\) \:\)

Looks like she is kicking musical butt as of this morning...
Voted again. Go Allison!!
Yeah, so far she seems to be maintaining her lead today. I've gotten the word out to some more people that know even more people, so hopefully we can build on that lead. I am sure that some people will or have already stopped voting as they forget or don't want to mess with it, but if I can keep reminding people until the voting is over, then she has a really good shot at this.

Thanks again!

Hey who cheeped out and didn’t cast all 5 votes? It was a multiple of 5 every day I voted until now.
Thanks again to all that are voting. I know that this can get a little tedious, but it is greatly appreciated. We are almost half way there to victory!

And for those that don't want to go back to page 1 for the link, here it is again...

Please Vote For Allison!
Looks like Allison is up over 500 votes now, lets take it to the finish. \:\)
Yeah, but just wait. The guy in the #2 spot seems to somehow get a massive amount of votes in about a 1 hour time span when he gets behind by that much. Yesterday from about noon until around 9:00 she was up by over 650 votes, and then all of a sudden, by 10:00 he had 400+ additional votes dropping that lead by quite a bit.

A similar thing happened the other day when she was ahead by about that same number. If they were spread out over the day, I wouldn't think much about it, but getting almost 80% of all of his votes in 1 hour yesterday, and the other time he more than quadrupled his total votes from the first 36 hours all in just a 2.5 hour span...

So, keep voting and we'll hopefully hold him back.
I think she's gonna win! she's way out in front.
Yeah, but there are still 8 voting days left (today was day 7 of 15), so who knows what will happen.

Jest keep voting, dang it!

Daily votes are in for today. Is Allison still in first?
Posted By: cb919 Re: Another "vote" thread. Please help me out! - 07/30/09 02:59 PM
My votes are in too.
Mine, too.
Thanks guys!
Votes are in again!
Thanks!
5 more votes...
Thanks. Today is the last day for voting. They turned off the "scores" yesterday to try to make the winner a "surprise" but my daughter had more than twice the number of votes as the next person (more than 4000 votes more) before they turned off displaying the scores, so she SHOULD win, but vote anyway please!
Daily votes are in for today.
Last day to vote is today!

Daily votes are cast. Let us know when the official result is in. And I'll say it again - she has a beautiful voice! You must be very proud.
Got the call this morning that she won, surprise, surprise... She will get to sing twice that day, gets tickets to a grandstand show, etc. It would be interesting if they put the final "scores" up, but not a big deal if they don't...

Thanks again everyone for voting.
Congratulations!!! woohoo!! ::party sounds::

Listen, Nick. Just in case your daughter ever becomes famous, she won't forget about us little people, will she?

Congratulations and you’re welcome but she’s the one doing the hard part.
Congratulations!!!
