I am in L.A. for work this week and I am going to venture out to do some sightseeing tonight. I wonder what I should do...

Hollywood sign?
Walk of Fame?
Chinese Theater?

Who knows, but I thought that I would toss it out there. I know that we have some Axiomites out here, but I should have posted last week in search for things to see/do after work....
There's a member in Rancho Cucamonga - drawing a blank at the moment - about 40 min due East of L.A.

I'll probably wake up at 2AM and remember who it is...

Scot
I think that was Sean... and he has now moved....
I will probably be by myself looking like a typical tourist from Iowa out here. Ought to be fun.
You should PM spiffnme.

California asked me to leave. \:\(
Well, I did what was on my list above, but not much else. Too much traffic due to a movie being filmed on Hollywood Blvd and then a movie premiere (Whip It) at the Chinese Theater. I did see Quintin Tarantino on the red carpet, and Drew Barrymore came across the street and was 5 feet from me. Kind of cool. I grabbed an In-And-Out burger and headed back to the hotel.

Arnold intimidates you?
No, his wife does.
SPG, are you still in town?

I just saw your post. I'm in Irvine. I have a Weber, real mesquite charcoal, fridge that can hold a lot of beer, and steaks. My house has many speakers, and amps ...

PM if you have time.

SPG lives in Arizona now, Nick is visiting CA.

So far most West Coasties are following their jobs here but if California keeps taxing and regulating it’s way to economic prosperity we’re going to have to set up refugee camps for the rest of the population.

One request could the last person leaving California bring the coast with them…at least Trestles.

You mean it's not always full?

Scott
Yeah, tonight I am stuck at the hotel without access to the rental car (there are 2 of us here, and the other person is taking the car about an hour away to meet up with an old friend. Oh well. I'll have to check out the Kyoto Grand Hotel's dining menu, or find something within walking distance I guess for dinner.

Edit: Looks like I am in an Asian district. Not sure that there is any food that I want to try within walking distance. Not that there isn't good food around here, but I fear that my previous experience with Asian food (in the middle of Iowa) is quite different than what "real" Asian food is and I will end up with something that I wouldn't care for...
Oh, come on Nick! When my kids were little, we called it "an Adventure Bite". There's got to be some great food there! Veggies and chicken - how far wrong can you go? \:\)

Weiland Brewery Restaurant at First and Central sounds safe \:\)
Vietnamese fajitas, Mongolian beef, Pad Thai noodles, teriyaki chicken, shrimp tempura... man some of my favorite foods are Asian. If you get a chance to go to Santa Monica, do so. I loved visiting the beach when I was in L.A.
Yeah, I ended up eating at New Moon today for lunch. Pretty tasty. The restaurant downstairs at the hotel seems pretty decent, al beit pricey... Good thing that I have a $100 per day food allowance for LA and I've spent less than $20 so far.

Is it wrong to get a New York strip steak in Los Angeles? Seems odd, although I know it is just a name. I doubt that the beef here is as good as it is in Iowa, but might be worth a shot. It would be a different story if I had someone to go out and about with, but it looks like tonight is a night to stay in at the hotel, catch up on some TV, and surf the web...

Thanks for the invite, 2x6, but, sadly, I am no longer in town. I moved out to Arizona in February this year. That would have been fun being able to hear all your gear!
