The local head-fi geeks had a get together yesterday. So cool. Got to listen to all kinds of headphones in a short time, alongside some great amps/DACs/sources. Top of the list was a Technics reel to reel w/ aluminum reels and red anodized spindles, powered by tube amps.

Looks like it was fun and informative. Wish I could have done something like that before I bought a pair a few years ago. Don’t see buy another for some time but maybe and amp.
Better pix of the reel to reel.

That's some beautiful gear.
Were there any Senn's HD-800?
Yes, many HD800's. There was a Beyer T1 but I missed that.

Properly amped, the HD800 was REALLY nice. It's different sound than what I'm used to with my Grado HF2's. I did hear a difference between the HD600 and 650's, though not enough for me to justify the cost upgrade. However, listening to AKG1000's electrostats, now that's another story. Given the funds, I might buy that.
That is some sweet lookin' gear! That would've been nice to hear all the differences between headphones.

Thanks for sharing, Cesar!
Headphone meets can be a lot of fun! I've fallen away from headphones though, they give me tinnitus and they'll still never be speakers.

We get Can Jam out here this year, I really should go.
I saw your location. Yeah, Can Jam sounds like a blast.
Man, I gotta stop viewing forums. It costs me money.

I don't need yet another amp but $200 for a Bottlehead kit is actually a pretty good deal.
